Newsletter 60: What about the Alliance?

So according to the latest Newsletter there will be community goals for Federation and Empire supporters to help build and name capital ships.

Once again the Alliance is being shortchanged. We are told that the Alliance navy is a joint force with ships from a mix of supporting systems, but we have never seen it. No rank progression opportunities are being offered and there is no ship type unique to the Alliance. The Fed and Empire storylines dominate Galnet.

Please, developers, stop ignoring those of us who want to progress in the game as part of the Alliance.

Perhaps it is a show of the current insignificance of the Alliance in galactic politics and economy. Right now the big lumbering giants are going to have a go at it. Somewhere down the line, I believe the Alliance will become a lot more relevant but not in the ways you expect with ranks, missions or ships.

As things stand, the alliance doesn't have it's own class of capital ship. Never did in lore. Michael Brooks suggested that might change in the future - but it's not in the short term plans.

Besides, I'd imagine that an Alliance warship would be built by committes made up of a thousand star systems. It would be awful.

I think it wouldn't be hard to believe that the Alliance capital ships would potentially be made up of older Federation designs since the Alliance is after all a break away collective of the Feds and probably have retained some of these ships maybe captured etc.

BUT

I do agree that the Alliance needs some more love right now this is coming from a strong Alliance supporter but I think a lot would agree.
