That thing is confusing me.

With nothing to provide scale, it looks like it's maybe 6" long.

Assuming it's actually much bigger than I think, am I to assume that lego now produce oversized "detail" pieces these days?

They should have stuck something in the pictures to create a sense of scale though.

No, looking at the pieces used it's a bit larger than that, more like 10" to a foot in length.

I'm gonna build one for myself. It's a fantastic model of the Asp. Due to not having enough pics or views of it I'll have to get creative to fill in some of the gaps myself, but I can get the framework of it by the pics he took. I'm actually not sure what pieces he used for the cockpit, I don't have any of those so I'll have to find out what they are and order them, or use something else. I'm sure I'll have to order quite a few pieces, haven't decided what color to make mine yet...

Based on the 3 stud pieces used, which equal approximately one inch, I would estimate the overall length to be about 14 inches or 35 cm.

I want airfix models.

It is not easy to acquire the needed votes for Lego to move to level II and consider manufacturing the kit. One would need to contact as many owners of ED as possible to succeed. Here's one that Lego actually liked but didn't get the votes. The good news is that the creator went on to sell the instructions commercially.

Here's one I made of the Cobra. I didn't submit it. Sorry no instructions.

Sorry for the OT, but I'll use the occasion to congratulate Mr. Hogan here not only for his great Lego skills. But also for his astounding work on the sound department of Elite Dangerous.

Thank you for such amazing work, keep 'em coming !

Hear, hear!

I'm always amazed at what people can do with Lego. I totally lack the 3D creativity/imagination so I might not even be able to do it if it came with all parts and an IKEA-style manual. :(
