Newsletter ---> Elite in Cryostasis

Hey guys. i backed this game a long time ago. 200 pounds. Walltext grinding and anfunished features. Is it really all?? Yet Elite is beautiful, atmospheric. This i have to admit. I would love to play it. But i cant. All the features in the disign dicsussion forums... they sounded like the real deal to me. Honestly. A real EVE killer, even .
What i can sense ricgt now, is just a poor and unfinished derivate of some great ideas.

Im finally unsubscribing to the newsletter. It gets more boring every time. Screenshots of gamemodes that no one needs.

Give us the features and mechanics this genre truly deserves.

Please!

The last three peek of the weeks have all been of CQC maps... which is a bit disappointing.

I'd be all for FD starting to implement the DDF features as they were envisioned. So much is simply not here, and a lot of what is here is either unfinished or not working as it was envisioned.
Here's some more reading in a similar tone to the DDF: http://www.scribd.com/doc/230681554/Elite-Dangerous-the-Beginning-Early-Game-Designs-2014#scribd
I read this a lot, I always get Beta 1 nostalgia...

Put aside and come back in autumn for example. Will help also put things into perspective.

They also said in newsletter that they will be pretty light in details till Gamescon.

There is some kind of "major announcement" at Gamescom in August. Everyone is working overtime to have "something ready to show". my guess - planetary landings.

I read dev updates and patch notes.

Newsletters have become little more than advertising and general chit-chat, i unsubscribed long ago.

If i ever should miss something worth reading, i can be sure it'll pop up on the forum anyway.

I must say that I always looked forward to "newsletter day"... But last weeks, nothing about the missing features announced before launch, nothing about the missing ships, no announcements of new content to bring life to the galaxy, only pics of the new "quake 3 arena" separate mini-game that no one asked for...

My guess - on the basis of what we've seen so far - woolly socks with "Elite Dangerous" written on them.

Cryostasis? Lmao... that's a bit strong. I've never known a game outside of pay to play to get so much attention, just because you might not be interested in what has and will be added in the immediate future does not mean no one is, I for one am looking forward to CQC eagerly as it means I can drop into that while out exploring, looks like a great addition to me.

YOu will be back. If not you just waisted 200 pounds :D LOL why would you ever put that much into a video game.

What did you expect FD to develope the game with all dlc in the first year??? SC has gotten way more money then FD and that wont be ready if they are luck for another year with a much larger budget and dev team.

See ya go back to playin point and click space games top down view RTS space game.

there is no need for jesus features. if there is not yet a game.
does anybode else feel fooled by braben and the devs?

I wouldnt go that far as saying that i feel fooled as I belive that FD wants to make an awesome game, but I think FD is straying from the promised path, neglecting the promised features and delaying adding content to the galaxy, and focusing on new things of dubious interest before completing what was promised.

But... patience is a virtue...

For a few weeks now the Thursday dev update has been a summary of the known weekly news, the newsletter a summary of the dev update with images. I just figured they were busy.

I would not hold my breath for that one.

yeah IMHO I really doubt it will be planetary landings, I think this is a while off still. FD said they would have walking around ships and planetary landings in separate expansions, and surely you wanna walk around before you can land on planets, otherwise there wouldn't be that much to do I guess

I also believe it is still too soon to hope for planetary landings.

However, they would be interesting even without walking off the ship, even if only for a change of scenery, seeing the same 4 stations (and only 2 interiors, one of which is very rare) everywhere gets tiresome after a while.

True, I think the novelty would wear off after a while of nothing to do.
Personally, I think the announcement will be Thargoids or something

So this wasn't interesting news?

Announcing the Rare Goods Contest

Next week we'll be handing the creation of a Rare Good over to the community. On our forums we'll ask players for a Rare Good concept, and invite everyone to submit their ideas for the team's selection and a community vote.

Between July 10 and July 19 we're opening the doors for submissions on our forums. We'll be asking for a name, a short description of the item, the system and starport where the Rare Good should be found, and an idea for the Community Goal that will bring your creation to life. On July 21 we'll be putting our favourites to the vote on our forums, and the winning entry will be featured in-game.

Keep an eye on the forums this Monday for full details on how to leave your mark on the Elite: Dangerous galaxy with a Rare Good of your very own.
