There will probably be further bug-fix releases. I wouldn't expect any significant new features until the new year.
This. While i would love to see new features it is doubtful.
They just pulled of a pretty damn smooth launch and christmas holidays are incomming. I think we will see one or tow more bugfix patches and then not much until mid January. Then again i keep being positively surprised by the devs when it is about patches and bugfixing.

They did say we should be getting the Mercenary Edition and Kickstarter awards "by the end of the week" so that might be a nice update we'll get soon. Probably.
FD dev said that the kickstarter Day 1 rewards would be available by the end of the week, which is today
(so the day 1 decals, decal pack and free access to one of five new ships)
merc is already in, i think! the freagle, the skull decal and the merc paint job! if there is to be more, only FDEV know!
KS starting points as well seem to be in (for some), what's missing are the KS day 1 and Founder's perks, and even worse than the fact that they're missing, is that we still don't even know what they are, or if indeed they even exist!, let alone when/if they'll ever be delivered!
personally, i'd just very much like to know, by being told clearly and without obfuscation, what their status is, before even thinking about "next big update"

I'd expect a skeleton crew of devs keeping an eye on crash reports and issuing any bug-fix releases for any big bugs/issues (e.g. what we've seen with rares & trading) as appropriate, with the remainder taking some well-earned rest over Xmas.
These are people with lives, they need downtime and time with the loved ones etc, not machines endlessly turning out new features!

The Merc edition contains stuff outside of the game, like an artbook, and some other stuff, which should be here soon. Also, not sure if there will be more skins for the Merc edition, or at least the ability to use the skin on more ships. Sounds like it is just the Cobra for now. Still holding out hope I can get that red Eagle. The choice of a free ship among five will come when those ships are released, which will be a ways down the line, as they are the last of thirty planned ships, of which we only have fifteen in game.

There is definitely more stuff people have paid for that we're yet to receive. Personally I can wait, I'm having lots of fun playing the released game, but I'm positive that others will start filling the forum with posts about "being ripped off" "lied to" "refund" etc if these things don't arrive ASAP.
I would not expect any feature updates before the new year. After a big update comes the inevitable unforeseen issues, which will need hotfixing. With the holidays coming up, I doubt the developers will be available for that. They need some time off as well, don't you think?
