Next DW2 mining CG

Hi,

Does anyone have a rough idea when the next mining CG is scheduled? Got my mining ship out here in Omega (Amazing few days here with friends btw, well worth a visit)

Not sure if I should leave the mining T-10 here, fly the Cobra back to bubble, or just stay here and wait for the next event.

Cheers

The next CG will be at WP7 near SagA*, not here in Omega nebula..

Yes, am aware of that, am looking for dates though. No point flying 5000LY back if a CG is coming in a week or two, only get 2 days a week with ED tops.

@SenseiMatty - Teir 11 nearly reached, massive amount mined. I only mined 80 tonnes, currently in top 75% with a 12 mill payout. Been mainly deep core Ice mining out here and killing pirates, hence the low CG tonnage

Cheers

Can't think of a reason to stop more than 1 week at any WP, so

WP3 - +7 days
WP4 - +7 days
WP5 - +7 days
WP6 - +7 days
WP7 - +7 days - 28th Feb?

Someone on chat said everyone will be staying in Omega for another week, that would make 2 weeks in total. Not sure if that is true.

Ok, waypoint 7 is a long way off. Don't even think I'll be in the UK :-( Was good fun, wish I had more free time.

We're already on week 2 at WP2. I was looking forward to heading off last Sunday as the CG is 'done', but I guess the organisers couldn't count on that :)

I'm not a pro miner, I'm around 250 tons and I'm in the top 50%. There are very nice payouts for this CG!

I have to admit mining payouts are definitely a thing now.. I've found a motherlode of some unpronounceable (this word is hard as well!) material which granted alone more than 4 milion.

I wonder if there's a multiplier between the CG numbers and the players numbers. I can't believe I'm in the top 50% with only 250 tons when the total amount of collected material is 2.5 milion...

Lol - percentages are hard :)

Yeah, 60 million for the top 10, think it is around 5000 tonnes though.

Beautiful spot in a system nearby. Omega Sector EL-Y d215 2 A Ring

Think I'll explore a few systems, then head back to the bubble via Trifid

The % bands end up very skewed, because a fairly small number of people will do a *lot* each, and a very large number of people will just do a single trip.

So there's about 5000 participants for about 2.5 million tonnes, which gives an average per player of 500 tonnes, and on that basis you wouldn't expect to be in the top 50%, and top 75% might be close.

But if you look at where the bands are...

The top 10% (500 pilots) really like mining and have hauled between about 2,000t and about 10,000t each. Most of them will be at the lower end of that scale, so let's say 3,000t average. That's 1.5 million tonnes already just from them.

So the remaining 90% of pilots only have a million tonnes to get, or about 225t each. So that's already enough for 250t to be a top 50% score.

It turns out it's a very unfair system, but that's what it is :D

I put in another 100t last night (for a total of 400t exactly) to hopefully stay in the 50% band - was hoping to get into the 25% band but you lot are nuts!! LOL

I hope they'll give us enough advance notice of the nature of the CG - the one just ended was surface mining, will the next be deep core mining for Void Opals to pay for the outfitting of the station? - that those of us who aren't DW2 participants but do want to contribute to the new station can get the appropriate mining ship pre-positioned.

Also, Omega Mining Orbital had a shipyard added so players could ship out their miner to the CG. Presumably there will be no shipyard at the new station because outfitting it will be the point of the CG; but a megaship with one parked nearby allowing me to do a high-speed run to the CG site in my Exploraconda and ship in a miner from Colonia would be most welcome.

The question is, does the hastily erected asteroid base at Omega stay where it is now or will they push it through a wormhole towards Sag A*? Free ship transport!

Off topic: Check out 2MASS J18192359-1632298

Only one jump from the Asteroid base. The most interesting system I've seen in 4 years of exploration. Only thing missing is some High G worlds.
