Newcomer / Intro Next Era expansion

I'm looking forward to the expansion, specifically EVA's for starters.

But since I can't find much information from dev teams, I'm very curious to know if the current COVID-19 situation and the fact that Frontier is working from home....

1. "IF" it could delay the goal of a December 2020 launch date?
2. Would you delay installing it until the bugs are worked out?

Thoughts?

Sheesh, that's disheartening.
I blame Oprah 🤪

Do you think you'll install it right away or after most of the bugs are worked out?

I wouldn't get too excited. After years of hype, hysteria and so-called development fleet carriers turned out to be basically a spaceport with a FSD.

I'll be checking out the detail carefully to see if there's any proper new content or just the same stuff rehashed.
EVA will probably turn out to be just the external camera with a bit of heavy breathing in the background.

I expec the "Next Era" to have:
  • Fully explorable atmosphere planets. When you land on these, the game turns into a Settlers-a-like process where you build huge communities. Or possibly Civilisation XXXIVVCCLL
  • Fully explorable ships and FCs. These have a random chance of alien incursion, and you move sround the ship FPS styley avec mental guns and motion trackers to eiliminate alien scum before their face-huggers get you.
  • EVA activity over monolithic obelisks that are full of stars.
  • TARDIS SLFs that allow you to blow up your opponent before they were born and
  • "Planet Buster" weaponry for blowing up worthless icy planets and exquisite limpet technolgy that not only mines asteroids for you, but also removes them from your FSS as they are not credit worthy.
If the Devs can't deliver on these, I quit. K? K.

I particularly enjoyed the "EVA activity over monolithic obelisks that are full of stars." bit (makes me feel old(ish) though)

"Planet Buster" weaponry for blowing up worthless icy planets"
More hyperspace hiways

I'd just install it and play - there will likely be bugs to fix, so you might as well find them.

Some details about possible ontent for the updates has recently been gleaned by data miners monkeying around in the beta update files. There's a thread on it here (Reddit). Be aware though that some of the images found are actually already in-game they're the backgrounds for the faction representatives.
