o7 commaders,

I be new to Elite Dangerous . I seek your ideas why it good to do well in this next event?

I feel , to get ahead , in a new game... the events give special rewards , sometimes...

somtimes it is useful rewards...

As a new player, doing individually well in a cargo CG (community goal), which is what the current event is, is pretty hard. Sure, every little bit helps to push the CG to tier 5, but you will compete against cargo haulers who are flying Cutters with a 700 ton load. Best you can do (if that's your cup of tea) is to attach yourself with the largest cargo ship you can afford to a friendly carrier (e.g. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/torval-mining-ltd-requests-resources-trade.591817/post-9567967 ) and help loading and unloading them.

The little catch this time: the target station is 2500 ls from the jump point, so unless that carrier gets a parking spot nearby in the same system, the chances of being interdicted by a pirate (player or NPC, depending on play mode) are pretty high.

In my opinion, this weeks special reward is not worth the effort, although the capital gains from hauling (see the linked thread) probably are. 13k/t in trade profits are tough to match.

GraphiteGB made a comparison here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/torval-mining-ltd-requests-resources-trade.591817/post-9567012
Most remarkable is that you usually can't engineer mining stuff - on the other hand, the use of that specific mode is rather limited. But if we get to Tier 3 (and it looks like that isn't going to be any problem), anyone may be able to buy them at the specialized brokers.

I usually get 15k/t profit from hauling silver and 18k/t hauling pyrophilite.
Had a look at the CG but I'm not interested in mining and I can make more credits elsewhere.
