Next-Gen consoles version looks awful compared to PC

I wonder if this is because there's no actual Next-Gen version yet, and all we've seen from Consoles so far is simply the old-gen code running in backwards compatibility mode, because the difference is incredible and shouldn't be anywhere near this massive.

Well, PCs are still more powerful than consoles... differences in visuals were always a possibility.

Always has been and always will be. PC's are capable of more. Games on console look great but when you look at the PC version - it always looks better. (with the right hardware ofc.)

Even titles that were released on old-gen and new-gen always were different. Glad to see that PS4-PS5 doesn't require you to buy the game twice (at least for now)
but with the PS2/PS3 and PS3/PS4 era, you had to buy both versions. Always a big difference in look and even features.

New gen (next gen IS not a thing anymore BC its already being 1 year) . So New gen have thé New gen of AMD GPU so it would bé thé same as pc. i dont think its already optimise for the New gen. New gen dont have fully optimisé games so i think fully New gen games will Come around 2023 - 2024

Sure, but not at the start of a new generation. We even saw games exceeding PC's Max Settings this time:

No multiplatform game so far shows the kind of difference seen in JW Evolution 2 atm, not even close.
This is something you'd come to expect much later down the lifecycle.

I can't find a PS5 in stores yet, i believe they are still called Next-Gen pretty much everwhere.

Fair point. For example: the cyberpunk2077 videos I've seen (also description with settings) the PC already had a slight advantage.
Since we don't know much detail about this: Are these the same settings and the same version of the game? (they are playing with an early build, right?)
I hope in the next weeks/months we are getting more comparisons, shame this isn't already present during the first week of pre-order.

Must say, overall the PS5/X-box is very impressive. Especially when you compare the situation when PS4 came out.
The quality for the price is excellent.

It's simple. PC's are more powerful than consoles. There has always been a graphical difference between PC and consoles. It should be that way. Consoles are holding games back, especially these games. JWE was held back by consoles and couldn't reach it's full potential. When you play games on a console you should never expect to have the same level of graphics and visual quality as someone with a PC. My GPU cost as much as one console. My first PC build back in 2016 cost $1,200. In 2020 I spent another $500+ to upgrade the motherboard, CPU and RAM. I have spent way more than the initial $1,200 to keep my PC upgraded. Compare that to the cost of a console. You can see why there is a difference.

If I had it my way these games would have been PC exclusives. JWE2 is going to have many improvements and some of these improvements might push console hardware to it's limit. The only way to change this is to release a game like the first one. People wanted these improvements but they come with a cost. Something has to be sacrificed. Console hardware is often basically obsolete by the time they release the console. Consoles have to stay behind the PC in order to keep prices down. They can't afford to sell you the latest and greatest hardware for the price of a console.

That should be because there is no Next-Gen version of Cyberpunk2077 yet, it's just the old-gen version running on backwards compatibility mode with frames unlocked.

They really are, especially now that they always offer 60fps modes.. it was the main thing, along with mods, that pushed me to the PC world.
Of course, thanks to mods games like this one will always be better on PC, but unless they start porting all their games on PC i'll still have consoles to play Sony exclusives (which, honestly, look better than any PC game i've played outside of RDR2).
And i loved playing JW Evoution on the couch, it was for sure inferior to the PC version but that game came almost at the end of the generation, so was expected. Would like to do the same here... but not on such an unoptimized version shown so far. No double-dip for me atm.

Thanks for the input, PCMasterRace4Life..

You are right about one thing though, the 2013 Consoles this game is coming to are indeed holding it back.

Could be they're running JW2 in compatibility mode and not the native version? There are still 2+ months till the release date

Other than that, i would not see any reasons to downgrade the gfx that much

Wow I never thought there would be a major difference since the next gen consoles are well capable of handling this game so I'm not pre-ordering yet until we get some clarification on this please Frontier!

What everyone is forgetting is what we've seen sofar is Alpha footage in a development build and is in no way optimized yet graphicly. If what we've seen was from a beta build, I would be very concerned. Right now I'm not.

Yes consoles will always lag behind pc in performance and capabilities, they will hit thier lifespan alot sooner as they are not upgradable. Being pc exclusive cuts your potential revenue stream by about 75%, a company is cutting thier own throat by doing so. Let's face it, there are a lot more generalist console players just due to the costs associated with building/upgrading a gaming pc. Parents get sticker shock when it comes to this, and in a depressed economy where familys are struggling to make ends meet, they can not cost justify those prices just for entertainment.

I've gotten 15 yrs out of gaming consoles, 1200-2000 $ for initial build and over thier lifespan another 2-3k just upgrading the graphics cards. I can't afford or justify doing that anymore. So yes I will never get to play a multi platform game to it full glory, but that's the reality of that choice.

PS5 user here. I really would like to know about this as well. Won't buy it before knowing whether it really will be that much of a downgrade in the final version of the game or not
