Considering the discussion we have had today regarding the next gathering, I said I'd do a poll for the next gathering, be it #Lavecon or an (un)Official party.

The first point to ask for people's views on, is when you think the next gathering should take place. Just that alone will have serious influence on where.

So The poll is grouped in two month options starting from now.
There will be no end date, and I have ticked multiple votes.
(could a mod limit it to three votes please?)

When there is a clear choice, we can turn the discussion to where. At that time, I will ask a mod to change the poll.

Wow, thinking the same thing ;)

Seeing as I missed this one, work commitments:mad:!

I would like to go to a pre-release (un)official LaveCon, I would also like FD to hold an official EliteCon to annually celebrate the release of ED! Maybe the LaveCon guys can be heavily involved in its creation and provide live streaming commentary from the event...

...I have extremely high hopes for ED in terms of fan following in the years to follow, I would love to see EliteCon get to where BlizzCon was a couple of years ago!

Special Goody Bags containing attendee Decals anyone? :D

As for the original question ;)

LaveCon 2 (un)official - March 2014 (un)official launch party
LaveCon 3 (un)official - July 2014
EliteCon (containing LaveCon) - March 2015 (I am banking on FD being too busy during 2014)

Can we have another conference when the alfa or beta comes out so that we can have a few machines running it and a discussion around what we think and what still needs to happen before final release.

Any chance of a Lavcon in the Western United States?

Phoenix would be nice, we have Comicon's here every year or so.

If you want one, organise one. There's no reason why LaveCons can't be happening all over the world. There's just no guarantee that everyone could make it. It does, however, allow Elite fans to get together, and that's a good thing.

Could have it around November 5th, around the anniversary of when Elite: Dangerous was announced and the Kickstarter begun.

As for location, I think Manchester would be a bit more accessible for much of the country than Blackpool. It's slightly less grim too (sorry, Alien :-/) Plus it has loads of facilities available, good rates on hotels, etc.

Ultimately though these sorts of thing depend on someone taking the lead and everyone else following, so more than anything it depends on who's organising.

Middle Earth

Just a thought, but I thought maybe it would be good to hold it, y'know in the middle of the UK.
Pretty near to international airports. Maybe something to do with space.

This little place in Leicester has room hire:

Even if too expensive, might be of interest to attendees to look around in same visit.

I always think that the Midlands are a good bet for events these days - there are plenty of airports, train terminii and so on into and out of the midlands, and things are generally cheaper than coastal or London "resorts".

The Space Centre would be an ideal venue for this sort of thing, but maybe could be too pricey. Worth investigating though.

Pyskokow and myself have decided to meet up on November the 5th to mark the aniversary of the kickstarter which was the event that brought this community together.

We are going to meet up in Manchester, but at this stage a hotel isn't finalised yet.

If anyone else wants to come, they are welcome.

I know I said forget it, Psykokow convinced me to have a change of heart. I don't care what it's called, where it is or when. All that matters is that I will meet up with some friends again. Please come too.
