Next Route-Jump Display

In the first versions of the jumping from one system to the next using routes, the number of jumps was displayed in the middle of the target indicator on the left of the HUD. It looked rather odd and I'm ok with it being removed.
However, I often turn to the left (target) panel to see how many jumps I have to make. Seeing the new indicators which show up when in a fight (the damage types or however you call it) makes me wonder if we could have a similar display below the target indicator (which is the still of a planet system) showing the next two jumps and the way point counter, e.g. [5] 14ly [4] 10.2 ly [3] and after the next jump (to #4) it would show [4] 10.2ly [3] 7.2 [2] for the next two jumps.
I've made a (rather ugly looking) picture trying to show what I mean.

Maybe it would be a good and more consistent behavior of the target indicator (currently the static ring system) if instead the selected star was displayed (like if I was targeting it for scanning). Giving us a indication of the star class (as it is shown when executing the jump itself).
