Newcomer / Intro Next Ship after my Type 6 Transport

I was thinking of trading up from my Type 6 transport to an ASP, since getting the next Lakon ship is going to take me ages. Is their any point in doing this, since cargo capacity is very close to the type 6 transport. Or should i just wait until i get the ship that can carry 200odd tons of cargo.

Get that ASP. In long terms this will save you some flies and the ASP is much more faster. And you'll get your money back anyway when you sell it so..

If you can upgrade to an ASP you should do it, but keep in mind that you have to outfit it, that you need credits for the cargo and the insurance. But even halfway through upgrading it is a better trader. Not because you can carry more cargo but because its faster and more agile, making the docking and starting process faster, saving you some minutes.

I was thinking if i get the asp stick a good frame shift drive on it, it would perfect for trading rares, 20+ LYs per jump, that should eat up the miles. Does anybody else use it for that.

Sold my T6, bought an Asp. Sold the Asp about 30 minutes later, and went back to the T6.

It wasn't $6 Million better for hauling, in my opinion... and docking a T6 is basically a breeze, no harder nor slower than a Cobra. Fuel costs were more than the T6 (approx double), more insurance, more cost to repair. A full T6 can jump 19+LY, which is not bad at all.

Lets all hope that 1, or even better 2, of the new ships coming sometime soon ????? fall between the Lakon T-6 and the ASP... it would make so much more sense

I use the Asp, it'll cost you a lot to upgrade it to a usable state! My strategy is this, because I have less cargo capacity than the type 6 I do a bit of bounty hunting in between runs. It's not all about credits, you must try and enjoy the game to :D if you just think about gaining credits all the time what's going to happen once you have the largest ship available?

So...find your trade route, fill up with cargo at one end,hit a nav point on route back to your final destination and have a shoot fest for as long or as short a time as you see fit! finish that drop off your cargo and repeat! Back home for tea and medals!

Sometimes I get 250,000 credits or more per session bounty hunting but it makes everything more exciting knowing that I risk losing over a million credits in slaves or palladium :D even paying for damage and ammo doesn't bother me anymore :D Just remember to keep your insurance as back up!

When I had the Type 6 it was just grind grind and a bit more grinding got enough for the asp, bought it and thought I'd made a massive mistake! but give it time, get some weapons and a few select upgrades and get back to enjoying the game again!

The Asp is like a big cobra with knobs on! If grinding credits is your game then don't get the Asp stick with the type 6 and be a space trucker!

We need a transport ship that sits between the type 6 and 7, something that can hual about 150t, and costs about 6million credits, A stopping off point until the type 7, that's what we are missing as space truckers. :)

Agreed. A 150T medium transport in the 6-9M range, and a fighter in the 4-8M range.

The Asp is a good upgrade to the Cobra at a decent price point, but the pricing for the T6 and Viper "ship upgrades" are just severe. I've got the T6 and 6 Million in the bank, but I truly can NOT see myself trading my way up to a $17,000,000 T7 anytime soon. And $100 Mil for a proper Python? Never going to happen. Not for a year or two at this rate, anyway.

(Not saying the game owes me a Python for just showing up, btw. Just pointing out that there comes a point that some goals just don't feel practical/realistic when there's such a big stepping stone.)

TBH i only play the game for an hour ish each day, can't really spend more time unfortently. So it will take me forever to get to a T7. I am in a simliar situation to u, i have 5.5million credits a T6 and a Cobra, so far I have been using my profits to upgrade my cobra, and from time to time go on a bit of bender in the Cobra to Anarchy sectors. But i can't face trying to get another 15 million ish for the T7, at this current rate it's going to make me another 3 or 4 months to do that.

Asp is by far my favorite ship, I would say Asp next then Type-7. Type-9 hauls a lot of cargo but is so slow and requires a fuel scoop and many jumps to get anywhere. For my money using the Asp or Type 7 to grind credits is the way to go. Python hauls a decent amount of cargo and is pretty fast, don't overlook the orca too, she is really fast and buttery smooth but now we are talking big bucks!

The only "trading ship" to come is the panther clipper but it will be the top one with more cargo than the T9.

Maybe you can outfit the fer de lance as an trader, but we have nearly no information about that ship so far.

Edit: Theres apparently a Imperial Trader coming but probably not to soon.

Other wise look here for more infos about ships.

'Upgraded' to a T7 for a day before i sold it again and went back to my lovely asp. T6, T7, T9 no doubt have their fans and are useful cash cows but for me they are just a brick, a bigger brick and a normous great brick. Go for the asp, you wont regret it....

if you happen to be in the empire space get the clipper as a T7 replacment. Its just like T6 - ASP. Unfortunatly theres no such option with the feds (dont know much about dropship)

Well I can't tell you whether you should go for the Asp or the Lakon Type 7, but since I have both of them fully upgraded with A-class modules I can tell you that both of them, will cost you in this outfitting ca. 33 mio cr. and the Type 7 may even cost a little more if you choose to put wepons on it, I myself didn't do that because a Type 7 is just a transport ship which cannot do battle at all... If you get interdicted in a type 7 my best advice is to just submit to it and burst your engines as soon as you can and then SC after 7-10 sec.

Remenber if you try to evade the interdiction it will take a lot longer before you can escape to SC again, so in transportes just submit and then get the heck out of there and save your cargo and ship...

The Asp is a keeper for me, but my Type 7 I will one day trade in for a type 9 because those ships are great for grinding credit to spent on having fun in my Viper&Cobra&Asp and hopefully one day a Python too... However I still think the Viper is the most fun ship especielly in dogfighting... My Freegle is okay but only against smaller ship and smallr cargoships, not the type 9 you don't want to take on a type 9 in a freegle use the viper for that, more power on weapons...

But at the end, only you can deside what you think is the most fun to be flying in... but I do recoment having more than 1 ship to be able to do different kinds of playstile depending on your mood... ;)

as with any expensive ship, i recommend keeping the old ship. this way if you end up really short on cash and cannot afford the insurance then you can park the more expensive ship and use the cheaper one for a while until your funds are healthy again.

nothing worse than going from a multi-million credit ship to a stock sidewinder because you got blown up one too many times.
