Next ship to buy?

Python of +50 is a bit misleading. Just made a setup for my buddy, it's 185 M in top A configuration as an armed trader.

Thats not an armed trader. That is a waste of money. There is no reason to have a 7A PP, 6A thrusters, beam lasers, A rated sensors, Class 6 shields or reinforced armor for a trade ship. The 5A fuel scoop is also wasteful - how long is your trade route? Not to mention that with all that overpriced junk you equipped, you are giving up almost 100 Tons of cargo space.

You can get a trade anaconda for the same 180 Million and make triple the profit as with that Python build of yours.

Why do you need a next ship? The asp can make you more than a cutter right now.
once they change that use the money you've gained to get a trader or a combat ship or one of each.
type 7,9 Python, conda, cutter and or vulture, FAS, FDL, corvette
Or you can do something weird like buy a ship because you like it, examples include the courier, adder, clipper, FGS, FDS, eagles ect.
if you're going to explore then just keep the asp or buy a conda because you can (if you can)

For Trading: The Clipper. Doubles as a decent fighter as well.

The Python is much more expensive, with the upside at being able to land on outposts.

The T7 is crap in my view, it feels slow as a T9, but without its toughness and weapons.

If you have the rank, then the Clipper completely outclasses the T7 in every way. Also makes a good combat ship and interceptor for undermining.

I need a better ship so I can do more legal trading and improve trader rank, I have already missed out on some juicy 10 mill smuggling runs (trader rank too low) , also smuggling has damaged my standing with some of my factions on my home area systems, so doing some legal trading and gattering job board supplies should "repair" the damage to standing.

I haven't thought about it much, I have been thinking for combat the amount of weapons used doesn't seem to matter to me, I like the configuration I have been using 2 lasers 2-3 cannons so I was thinking more on the lines of better and more hardware fitted i.e I never bothered with armour just had basic, but good shield and shield boosters and quick shield chargers, (so a ship with more hardware slots) I would stand a longer chance in battle perhaps more enemy ships in combat?

I have found the viper good all rounder (just had basic armour top end shield and 4 ammo slots for shield booster) was good against hi ranking python, but not good with smaller ships with more than 2 enemies in combat, why im looking for larger ship for better combat and lastability .

I have the rank so for trader thats my next ship :)

If your main wish is to repair your reputation and grind your trade rank then can I humbly suggest a mining Python?
You can fit a Python for mining relatively cheaply and especially if you get BB mining missions the credits and trade rank will be flowing!

I dont have the credits yet for Python, I did try mining just after game was released but hated it, flying around trying to scoop up the items, it was just too boring for me :).

I just bought the Clipper and kitted it out for trading, had to sell both viper and cobra but they are both cheep enough to rebuild :). Only been fling it for an hr or two and already impressed, got interdicted twice first time I got away but 2nd I had to drop in, just the thrust alone was enough to get away. Got a good sized hold 240 round trip trading isnt much 500k per trip Sol to Anlave but seems to be the best profit maker I have found. Yep docking at port`s is a problem for some missions but for now it will do :)

Could really use a decent mutirole ship in between the Asp and the Python, non factional of course.
Constrictor perhaps ☺

There are now limpets to do the scooping for you. Of course that may not make it more interesting for you at all! I do it sometimes as I find it quite a relaxing way to while away a few hours, just dump junk and the go looking for painite missions to make some credits.

I would have recommended the Clipper for that reason; fragile* but it can outrun anything it can't outfight. Not being able to land on Medium pads is a huge disadvantage when it comes to mission-running (and some Community Goals) though.

The Python is a great all-rounder, versatile and quite powerful, but it's slow. And the 'Conda is even slower, and sluggish turning to boot.

*and it's not that fragile - once I was trapped inside a station by several angry CMDRs in combat ships trying to mount a blockade, who all opened up on me as I left - but as I knew they were going to fire I slammed through the letterbox under boost and just left them behind. Speed! :D

I ran an Asp and a Vulture concurrently for a while until I could afford a decent upgrade. The vulture I used for making money in HRES and the Asp for running missions and the odd bit of cargo.

I tried an 'upgrade' to a T7 but sold it after a couple of hours as I found I was having absolutely no fun with it whatsoever with it.

After that I stupidly I thought I'd go for the clipper but soon realised that evensafety purely grinding imperial missions for days, I'd have the cash to buy a Anaconda before getting the rank to buy a Clipper.

In the end I just enjoyed running the odd mission and bounty hunting until I could afford a Python, after selling the other two ships. Think I had about 50m in assets at that point which was enough for the ship and a couple of upgrades. I also bought it from the PP guy who offers ship discountsd which helped!

For me the price/rank gap between the Asp and the next desirable ship is too great. I'd like to see something else come along and fill the space.
