Newcomer / Intro Next step up from Cobra?

Hey all -- wanted to see the community thought would be the best choice of a ship to move on to next. I've been in the Cobra for about 45+ hours, and I've got around 8 million credits, with another 4 million sunk into the ship. I've been working in the RES zones around Heinkel City in Almad, and I've landed in the top 15% -- should be a decent reward if I keep that up. Hoping to be up around 20 million by this time next week. I've kinda fallen into the bounty hunter role, and I don't know if I have the imagination to be an explorer or the patience to be a trader, haha.

I've heard good things from other hunters about the Vulture, but I've had my eye set on grinding my Alliance rep until I can snag a Clipper. Or any other suggestion, haha. Thanks for any input!

Imho the clipper is more a a prestige ship than an actually good help. Idk if id' invest my money into that anytime soon. I also decided to be an AI bounty hunter. And I'm very happy with my vulture. I switched to it with around 6Million on my Bank and it took me a while until my equippent was on a decent level. But i don't regret doing it. with a good system you can make around 2 Million in an hour (estimated)

Vulture is a beast for bounty hunting, anything, up to and including anacondas, it can tear through in seconds.

You won't get very far in getting a clipper by building Alliance rep, seeing as how it's an Imperial ship

Welp, time to look for a new faction, the Emperor's gonna put a hit out on me now.

Seriously though, the more I read up on it, the more the Vulture sounds like a good deal, especially for what I'm doing right now...now just to find a station close that sells it.

If you want a general purpose ship which is basically an upgrade from the Cobra and also multi-purpose, I'm pretty happy with my Asp. It can do a bit of everything, at cost of not being as good a fighter as a, say, Vulture.

However the price-tag is much larger.

I currently have the Vulture and that is a great for bounty hunting. It can kill anything you come across and is maneuverable enough to stick with the smaller ships.. It also destroys target quickly..

Clipper is a better trader than the T7, but too big and expensive to use for much else.
It does look good though

I'm definitely enjoying the new ride so far. Snagged two C3 gimballed beam lasers...can't complain too much!

I second the suggestion that next ship should be Asp as multi task. As Cobra to clipper is a BIG jump.

go for the vulture and dont bother trading a while imo.

you can make 2mil and hour in a good res with this ship.

asp is terrible for combat imo. the guns are soo weak.

asp is also more expensive than vulture atm.

Asp is a very nice multi-role ship. Rivals the T6 for cargo capacity and can hold it's own in combat. It also makes a great explorer.
For pure combat the Vulture is awesome.
