I believe Frontier have closed for Xmas, so I'd expect the next patch to be next year.

We can't complain, they deserve a break.

That they do, it would also be nice to see a sticky for the road map of planned changes to the game, so we can all drool at what might come along

While I understand it's Xmas...surely it's a bit of a (ahem) Dangerous move to release a game and then almost immediately have a 2 week holiday?

I'm really enjoying E-D so far, but it definitely feels unfinished and buggy. I'm a KS backer but not a beta tester.
I would have happily waited a few extra weeks to get a more finished product....

I'm a PB backer and I agree but delaying the release after the holiday season would greatly impact sales, therefore I can live with the current issues if the sales on release had a good financial impact on FD.

The dev team has been working around the clock and I don't believe they will stop after their deserved break.

When you launch a game, especially one with a multiplayer component, then it needs your FULL attention for the next month, at least.

To be honest, I agree with this, mostly because of the multiplayer part. I also agree with the devs deserving time off for the holidays, because they are people too.
Well, these are the downsides of a Christmas release. It's a risky move.

They may have some people in to work on ongoing developments and maybe investigating problems, but the key people are likely to be up against their statutory holiday requirements and need to take time off. These are the people who couldn't take time off before the release, and without them any new release is going to be very risky. Alpha was similarly quiet in terms of christmas updates, I think.
