Project:
Work in progress!
Hail, CMDRs!
This is a mapping project of the NGC 6357 Nebula. Where is NGC 6357 you ask? Well, go to your GalMap and zoom out as far as you can. See that odd nebula between Sol and SGR A* that sticks out? That's it. Why does it stick out like that? Only Sol, Achenar, Polaris and NGC 6357 stand out. Not even Alioth stands out and it's a capital system.
Weird, right?
My "gamer instincts" are telling me that either something IS happening there, or WILL happen there. So, I'm off to take some pictures and measure some distances. My goal is to map every system with the prefixes "NGC 6357 Sector" & "CL Pismis" even if the systems are not actually inside the nebula itself. If I do happen to come across a system inside the nebula that DOESN'T contain either prefixes then I will be sure to include a GalMap screenie for proof! The second part of the project is to record each system's relative distance to the following systems:
CL Pismis 2
CL Pismis 3
CL Pismis 12
CL Pismis 15
With distance data from those four systems I hope to be able to triangulate all the recorded systems. Together with the screenies of each system and each system's position I hope to build a reliable database for future content based in the War & Peace nebula! This database is a massive project for just myself to carry out. I wont be uploading screenies to the forum as there are way to many. Once I have more time I'll begin posting more detailed information about the systems I scan. I apologize for the lack of information on this thread! I promise to upload what data I have as well as to continue to add more once I free up my real-life events!
Cheers, CMDRs!
