NGC 7822 Nebula & Back

Well I've just completed my first proper exploration trip and have to say i thoroughly enjoyed it, It's completely out of my comfort zone and to be honest i set off a complete novice and came back a different pilot.

I picked my mark ( NGC 7822 Nebula )

Heading off into the unknown, I had a very nervous feeling about 700 LY out from populated space without the safety net of a space station to lock my ship up safe and felt a little uneasy about just logging off in the middle of nowhere, so I pressed on trying to delay the inevitable.
Another 40 mins into my travels the DK2 had beat me, probably scared images of enormous stars melting my  retinas (nobody mentioned that in the explorers guide for DK2 owners :D )

Day 2

Well back in the saddle so to speak, sigh of relief when i logged in to find my ship in one piece and pretty much where i left it, my eyes where feeling refreshed after spending most of my lunch break in my office with cucumbers on my eyes relieving my virtual sun burn.
The first 20 or so jumps where pretty ordinary, no WOW moments so to speak of then.....

Just what my strained eyes needed to see 4 of them trying to entice me in a little closer, as you guys know things are just huge in the rift. Feeling a little more confident, I decided not to scoop for fuel and set myself a little distance from these to admire the view.
As my confidence grew so did my risk taking, trying to relieve the monotony of scooping for fuel at every available star i decided to skip a few to speed up my journey... which brings me to

Day 3

My target is now on the horizon, and what a site it is, stunning blue glowing orbs in the distance surrounded by the red haze

A few more jumps and I made it

Day 4

Heading home...

Nothing interesting to report on day 4 just a series of jumps and scans and repeat

Day 5

The last leg, after a few more mindless jumps and scans
BOOM !!!!! My scan shows a little blue marble planet 9th one from the main star

I had found a few water worlds on my travels but this was a needle in a haystack

An Earth like planet !!

Well that concludes my trip, I've learnt a lot from my travels and will surely feel better about my text voyage

I highly recommend if you have the time to pay a visit to the NGC 7822 Nebula, it really is a great site when equipped with a DK2

Thanks for sharing, sounds like you had fun! I haven't visited that nebula yet, I better add it to my places to see. :)

Welcome to exploring, it really is very fun in DK2! So many sights to see!

Great fun thanks Pate, I think the approach to the nebula once it appears in your horizon is actually better than once you reach it.

But the way the interior of your ship lights up with neon blue looks pretty cool once you've arrived
