Nice touch FD!

And probably will be the only ship that have it, as frontier hasn't said a word about extended damage etc. since Anaconda was added or made any of the new ships released after 1.0 have extended damage model. Probably took too much effort to make it and they decided that it wasn't worth the development time and cost.

Something else that will stall space legs.

Can't have fully modelled interior's without a proper damage model...

And there's more and more ships being added all the time.

If space legs comes before 2019 I'll eat my shorts!

The optimism in this thread is admirable. Sadly, damage effects won't bring in any more money for the game, therefore it'll likely never be done. I understand explosions have been improved in 2.3 however.....

Well some comments have pointed out that there might be an end game in there, like a monetised expansion... IE Legs stuff has been hinted in the past to involve hull breaches for gameplay, scavenging of ruptured hulks etc (see ye olde dream fugue vids [1][2]).

Still optimistic, but leaning towards the possible ;)

Woohoo, I didn't think it would, but that should speed it up :D

It worked with Plandings...

The infamous 'I'll eat a sock if it is.' statement :)

It's not just all about the money when we talk about expensive development.
There are CPU cycles and network load to be considered and not just for the current situation but for planned features as well.

Another point is optimization (takes dev time!)
As an owner of 'low end' equipment I'm extremely thankful for FDs constant work on optimizations.
I'm amazed about what still goes with my poor old GTX 760 (no VR of course LOL).

I'm playing happily at 1080p on a 660, so I concur, FD's optimisations are very well done.

Sorry, did someone day that this damage-stuff only happens with anacondas and no other ships at all?

OP: I was also surprised the first time I saw all the sparks and smoke coming from the Conda as I limped home after a tough battle the first time. The Conda shows what is possible and I'm sure damage effects will be eventually implemented with all other ships at some point. I look forward to seeing what FD comes up with. I have all the patience in the world: waited 2 years from the announcement / kickstarter / game release. It would be nice to have every possible improvement yesterday, but since that's not happening, I'm content to wait :)
