Likely this is going to get closed as well. Since we have apparently arrived in the Silencing Phase where unwanted Discussions just end up removed...

Assumably your already Expecting such an Topic anyways. After all its fairly Obvious that People will react annoyed if you do stuff like this.
But I wanted to give an Answer to the other Topic. And as this course of Action just serves to annoy me off even more than I am anyways already I.ll just take the risk of being punished...

From what I understand, I think it's fair to say that most of the moderators here are not interested in moderating real world political threads (or indeed any real world controversial topics), and the few that would be, would also be the ones that might want to participate in those threads. Since the moderators are volunteers, it then becomes very difficult to ensure quick and effective moderation on such threads, and they end up just being closed. The reality is that it may be better to move to another location where such threads would be allowed to run on and moderated by folks who are actually interested in moderating political RL topics.

To put it another way, some players probably take the view that they are coming here to escape real life rather than debate it.

Since FD is a games company and not a political debate company, I guess it's a pragmatic decision. There are not the resources available to moderate the threads in the right way.

Probably the off topic section should be renamed to "Small talk" or something like that to indicate that it's not really supposed to be for topics that are going to generate potential flame wars about RL topics.

It's a shame since I actually liked participating in those threads and seeing the different viewpoints and attitudes of posters who have very different opinions and life experience to me, but it's also fair to say that these threads often ended up in flame wars, and often these occurred during the middle of the night on weekends when there are not that many moderators around to deal with it.

The Problem is. I have really no relation to the People there.
I have no Idea what they Play or if they are even Gamers in the First Place.
(Albeit reading a few Topics would settle the Mindset for Mostly FPS Gamers given that most of it reads more like a Twitter Account than a Forum lol)

And dont get me wrong. As stated. I do understand the Logic behind it. (And its True that especially this Forums Rule of not Participating in Topics your Moderating makes this much Harder. Because this of course means that the Moderators Interested in Side Topics will Participate leaving the Moderation to the Mods which dont care about these Topics.....) ((Also as an Sidenote on all Topics in General I would likely prefer to make an exception for Off Topic Areas on this simply because for the Game all Mods should Care so there its fine. But for Other Topics this likely poses a problem in General cause you likely dont have so many Mods for each topic and the 1 or 2 mods caring for a certain Topic will likely Join it.))

But clarifying my Dissappointment. Its not that I am really that Interested in Politics that I would join other Communities for it.
I am part of this Community and thus would like to Talk with this Community about Politics and other things.

So Joining another Forum is really not interesting to me. As well. I dont know the Community there. Nor do I care for it
There is simply no Relation to me.



Also just one thing on these Topics Derailing ^^
Lets Face it.
Almost ALL Topics with Increased Participation. Be it Star Citizen or Game Updates.
Or even just an Suggestion that grabbed attention.
Have a Tendency to Turn into Flame Wars
Smaller Topics dont. But thats simply cause they are small. ^^

You are wrong. Restricting freedoms of majority because of a couple of jerks is HOW WHOLE HUMANITY works. Most laws we have originated from actions of a few and influenced the whole society.

And I also disagree with your second point - people are, at large and generally, cows. They need to be told what they can and cannot do, otherwise they turn to anarchy. Scratch that. They are actually worse than cows.

Well Mate.
That may have been that way in Real Life.
Thing is this is not Real Life.

In Reality this works because the Community will reign in the deviants. Hence Regulating all Results in them Punishing the Deviants into Compliance.
But in an Online Forum the Community has no Power over the Few.

With Political Topics removed the Forum Trolls will simply move to other Topics. Nothing is Solved Nothing Improved.




As for your Insult to Humanity.

Let me put it bluntly. Frontier do not care about you. Your complaining will not change anything. The fact that this decision goes in my favour and against yours, is pure coincidence.
