No add friends button

Hi,

just had a new friend start playing and i wanted to add them to my friends list. but i do not see the add friend button.

do i need to do something to enable it?

But uh what if their cmdr name "doesn't exist" (Doesn't show up at all when you enter their name)

Then you a)got the name wrong, b)are in different versions of the game (Legacy? Live? Horizons? Odyssey?)

Or your friend is imaginary and really doesn't exist.

Both Joined Horizons, are friends on Steam, search up the cmdr name, nothing shows up lol

The only time I have had an issue with this was when I typed in the wrong thing.
