No Alien life forms ?

Hi, I'm new to elite dangerous but I've spent a very long time playing Elite on Amiga 500. ED is a good game but it lacks of immersion. These below are my thoughts about question WHY.

1. No ALIEN life forms ? - do we deal with only Human Race in the future ? , as I remeber in the original elite, exloring system map shows some alien creatures and other life forms. In ED only what we have is some computer screens with tones of numbers and digits, IT DOES NOT MAKE ME FEEL I'M IN BREATHING , LIVING UNIVERSE.

2. STORY LINE ? S/B ONE ? I think so...

3. HUD element - It is good but I do not want to see some yellow lines showing orbits of planets, moons, etc.

let me know what do you think.

1)

thargoids are in as a faction and there is non-sentient life. it is also rumoured that there is intelligent alien life, but there are 400bn stars, gotta search them all.

2)

the emperor is dead and a succession battle will start on the 16th (afaik)

these elements will be injected by devs, they're not persistent quests

3)

this has been raised as an issue. to get screenshots drop out of supercruise and headlook upwards in your cockpit

I think the game releases on the 16th, so we could perhaps wait another few days and see what we actually have, and then go from there.

Good day Commander and welcome,

Allow me to answer some of your questions:

1) In the universe of Elite Dangerous there are alien life forms, named Thargoids. Currently they are not in the game, but perhaps they will be added in the future expansions. Maybe there will be more species, but I'm not sure.
2) I don't know whether they'll implement a story line, but as I see it, you make your own story. You decide how the story unfolds and what paths you take.
3) I know, you're not the only one who's bothered by them. There are a few discussions here on the forum suggesting to make these lines optional. We'll see what FD is going to decide.

Cheers,
Coilbone

I will be extreamly frustrated if the Thargoids are anything but deadly in ED, if i remember correctly from my experiences in the 80's you could only hope to defeat them with top of the range equipment installed (all military grade) and a great deal of pilot skill!

Cheers Konig

To answer your concerns you need to know first that the elite has a galaxy simulation running on the servers so large that it cannot be run on a single computer, hence the cancellation of the offline part of elite. This simulator takes care of the demand of goods in the galaxy and gets injected by frontier staff with story elements of truly massively multiplayer online proportions. This answers your first two questions but let me make it clearer with some examples. The frequency of said story elements is still unclear but, for this example lets say they will happen on a weekly basis.

Week 1, you receive an email concerning the battle of two candidates for the throne of the empire.

PvP option: You can contribute by choosing a side and shoot people who support the other side.
Outcome(once the week is over): The candidate for the throne that you supported (won/lost). (Because/despite) of your contribution of 0.003% of the total number of downed enemy ships!

Trade option: The candidate of your choice is going to need 56 million crates of whiskey to celebrate his victory.
Outcome(once the week is over): The candidate for the throne that you supported (won/lost). (Because/despite) of your contribution of 0.003% of the total number of transported whiskey!

Mining option: The candidate of your choice is going to need 23 million crates of [random mineral name] to make fireworks to celebrate his victory.
Outcome(once the week is over): The candidate for the throne that you supported (won/lost). (Because/despite) of your contribution of 0.003% of the total number of mined [random mineral name]!

Week 2, you receive an email concerning an imminent invasion of the Thargoids.

PvP option: You can contribute by choosing a side and shoot people who support the other side.
Outcome(once the week is over): The Thargoids invasion was (successful/repelled). (Because/despite) of your contribution of 0.003% of the total number of downed enemy ships!

Trade option: The war effort of your choice is going to need 106 million crates of guns to fight the battle.
Outcome(once the week is over): The Thargoids invasion was (successful/repelled). (Because/despite) of your contribution of 0.003% of the total number transported guns!

Mining option: The war effort of your choice is going to need 76 million crates of [random mineral name] to make weapons to support the battle.
Outcome(once the week is over): The candidate for the throne that you supported (won/lost). (Because/despite) of your contribution of 0.003% of the total number of mined [random mineral name]!

Wheren't Thargoids in the original game? Is not ED supposed to be all the original was?

Would be nice. There's a number of original ships that have not been added. Anyway I'd just love it if they add a whole load of stuff like aliens ships etc and just never tell us. Then one day as you are travelling about you just happen to find something, that would be cool. We need surprises!

Totally agree, mind with 400 billion systems it might take a while to stumble upon that surprise LoL

I can see it now. All the devs gathering around the screen. "Look, someone's jumped into the system... wait for it... He's noticed it... Oh wait... What's he doing man... You're supposed to... no... don't... >sigh< He's just blasted it out of the sky!!!" "Oh well," DB claps him on the shoulder. "Let's find another system..."

:D

Yeah, right. I wonder how programs like Celestia, and SpaceEngine can run a galaxy simulation completely offline. And I also wonder how my Amiga 500 could run a full galaxy with trading on 512 Kilobyte of RAM and a 7MHz CPU, also offline, of course.

I've been watching Alliance news lately and they told me that Imperial population rapidly infecting with parasitic alien brainslugs. And on another channel I've been told that Federation population mutated so much that sometimes it's hard to say if they are human at all! I heard rich 1% of the Federation squeeze simple folk so hard that they forced to eat plastic, toxic waste and bio waste. Horrible I say! We should help those poor sods fast and nuke them from orbit for their own good. It will be most humane thing to do.

There are alien life forms. I've discovered microbial life the atmospheres of certain planets, and if you head out to un-conolonised, space, you'll likely come across lots of plant and animal life.

Artificial Intelligence is banned on the Galaxy because they are deemed too dangerous, but rumor has it that there are a couple rogue escaped AI out in the Galaxy that some Explorer may awaken.
