No "auto fire" (repeat fire)?

With my Cobra and multi-canons, I kept my trigger pressed and it fired like hell.

Now I use a Python with the following setup:
3C Beam, gimbaled, right front
3C Fragment, gimbaled, left front
3C Fragment, turret, belly
2C Plasma, fixed (of course), right back
2B Rail, fixed, left back
NO power issues that I can see (weapons are all online and all vital for combat systems).

I have a fire group where all are firing, a fire group excluding the two fixed/hungry weapons and a fire group with just the two frags. In all groups trigger 1 is for guns and I keep trigger 2 for heat plate (although haven't found the need to use it yet).
Problem is that aside from beam (that keeps firing until bar is finished), holding the fire button does not (seem) to repeat fire for frags and I even think the two fixed weapons also don't fire much (or at all!)...
I know of the slow repeat of frags, this looks like it not triggering at all (at least, not more than once).
Fast tapping of trigger seems to do a better job, unlike on the Cobra.
Any idea if this is (somehow) normal and/or can be fixed?
I am not sure yet of the exact behavior because with Python I've only been in 3-4 battles and I am busy trying to stay alive and make the kill than notice the exact details of what is wrong (which I know I should do). But definitely something seems weird.
I've done something stupid?

ANY ideas?

The weapons you mention not firing is likely due to their types. Each of those weapons needs an individual command to fire. The Frags, if fixed, should fire the three shot salvo, but after that, it will wait for the next command. With the amount of ammo available, you don;t really want these on spray mode anyway. 100 or so rounds would be gone in moments then. I put things like the Thermic, and MC on trigger one, cannon (or other reload weapons) on the 2nd trigger. You can choose a key to bind the Heat Sinks to, and take them off your Fire Groups all together.

Large multi cannons have slower firing rate than small and medium. Small and medium can be compared to mini gun, but large is like 30 or 40 mm auto loading cannon. Huge multi cannon has even slower fire rate. But don't worry, they still do much more damage than medium/small multicannons even if it looks like they fire less rounds.

Thanks people. I really need to take note of the ammunition before I fire and after I fire to see what fired. I will try with some less powerful opponent.
So I have to depress the trigger repeatedly right? Damn. Feels like an 80ies game. Not sure I can mentally connect to that.
We'll see.
Yes indeed, I already had a specific key for heat sinks back from the time I didn't have a ship with heat sinks. :D So I didn't remember.
I changed the fire groups (and reduced them) as I now have plasma and rail on trigger 2. I'll see how this works.
Indeed the weapons do much damage. I have to get used to "boom there goes 15% now let's wait to fire again, boom there goes 15% more", as opposed to "pat 1% pat 1% pat 1% pat 1%...".
I'll get back to this thread if things still remain weird after I read my weapon behavior a bit more.

Frags require a trigger press for each shot, and can unload more or less as quickly as you press the trigger (so 3 rapid trigger pulls for stock frags). Plasma accelerators fire immediately upon trigger press and then have a long (~6s) reload at which point you need to press the trigger again. Meanwhile, rails have a short (~0.5s) charge-up period which requires you to hold the trigger until the charge completes, at which point the weapon will fire. They also require the trigger to be re-pressed to fire again. This combination of weapons really won't play well together due to all having different trigger behaviours and lead points.

I hear you.
That must be it.
I see if I can make them play nice with two different triggers, else something will change.

I think, replacing the rail with a second plasma, will allow for more consistent firing, unfortunately with repeated presses (plasma and frags and beam firing, then only frags and beam, then again a blast from plasmas etc.), but better than nothing.

BTW I think all weapons should auto-repeat while trigger is pressed.
