No beta at all?

I'm a little confused. Am I understanding right, that only people who spent $150 or more get access to the beta? I am an original backer at the bounty-hunter level. Do I ever get access to the beta?

Even Star Citizen gives beta and alpha access at the $45 level.

I am not sure I think the original standard beta was 50$ so if u backed for the standard beta. b
eta begins somewhere along June from the looks of things as premium beta opens up at around may 30th.
beginning of may is alpha 4 that means the whole universe will be put in.
also means a universe of bugs lol

so I guess its a reasonable timeline

so hold on you will get your shot at the game and its worth the wait especially if a new oculus rift pops in by the time you get the game as it makes a whole world of difference if you can get it .

The beat will be split in two phases.

Anyone who pledged at least £100 to the kickstarter/backers app or bought the premium beta package from the current store will get access to the first inital phase of the beta. Players of this was given access to the old Singleplayer alpha build a couple of days ago.

Anyone who pledged at least £50 to the kickstarter/backers app or bought the premium beta package from the current store will get access to the second phase of beta.

The first beta phase will start on the 30th of May. We do not currently know when the second phase of beta will start.

If you pledged less than £50 but at least £20 to the kickstarter you should get access to the gamma once the beta is over, same goes if you pre-ordered the game in the store.

Alpha 4 is just a 200 cubic light-year area of space, not the entire galaxy.

If you have spent 50 gbp (80 USD) you get normal beta access. If you have spent 100 gbp (160 USD) you have premium beta access. If you have spent 200 gbp (360 USD) you have alpha access.

Expensive testing levels are related to Kickstarter tiers, and those were done so because FD wanted to have limited testing group for alpha, and little bit bigger for beta test.

SC already said they will do phased in testing for DFM, so I expect those with SC alpha access will be able to play DFM only in summer.

Remember, those are NOT Early Access games. They are not tailored to being played during testing. These are REAL tests. Thus sometimes devs just needs limit it somehow, so they can handle feedback.

SC promised alpha & beta to everybody, and will be in a hilarious amount of trouble if they try to let 200,000+ ppl in at once.

There will be such a crapstorm already when people fully realise that only small numbers will get early access to the dogfighting module.

It has already been confirmed that the DFM will have a staggered release and all hell has broken out on the forums.

Lucky you, I'd swap Alpha for your £150 Backer founder.

£150 get member of 'The Elite' plus first round of Private Beta, Physical DRM-free collector's premium boxed edition of "Elite: Dangerous" (which includes a T shirt with "I backed Elite: Dangerous" on the back, and a paperback copy of the official sequel to "The Dark Wheel"), Have the option to start in the founder's world with any starter ship and 4,000 CR, Explorer: Have the option to start on the edge of explored space with a long range version of the Cobra Mk III.

Did I missed anything else?, I was away from computer for a while and missed Elite Dangerous Kickstarters Backers.

Also For £200, you will participate in the private Alpha test plus all the reward above. :)

The Elite game does seem expensive for alpha and beta compared to other games.

But it is Elite !

That's nothing compared to what will happen when the majority of the 200k people realise what alpha really means.

Yes! Isn't it glorious :D

PS. I have a LTI Origin Jumpworks 325 Arbiter waiting for me in Star Citizen. I hope the game succeeds and it is something cool and fun when it finally, at least two years from now comes out... but there is something delicious with the overhyped situation nevertheless.

Well that is entirely unsurprising. There is so much hype about this game and no doubt the forum members have whipped themselves up into a frenzy over how great the game is going to be. Nothing less than a superlative experience will be expected or demanded. The crash is going to be painful for them unfortunately.

No to over-hype, but I have (all LTI) 300I *DBH, Aurora LX, 325A, 315p, Avenger, f7C-S (Ghost) and Freelancer.

I really do believe that he can produce - if the mass groupthink gauntlet can be overcome.

- I invested about just as much here too so I really hope that both games are successful!

:D

You ask a funny question. You are an original backer at the bounty-hunter level. When you have engaged £32, you have seen the rewards for this commitment, I think. Why you compare with SC ? In what purpose ? The reward system in the kickstarter (and the old store) was sufficiently clear, it seems to me

:S

Wow! I had to spend $80 to get into any beta at all??? I guess I should have read the fine print. That is ridiculous.

Sad thing is I did up my backing a few months ago, but my account still does not show it. I wonder if it ever will.

By the time I get access to this game SC will be in full swing, and I won't have much reason to come back here. So ED is really shooting themselves in the foot trying to squeeze more money out of people.

bad business practice is bad..

If you've pledged more money than your account shows you should probably contact the store support about that.

Its probably not just about squeezing more money out of people. It probably has quite a bit to do with limiting the amount of testers (there are many reasons not to have too many). You might have seen that SC will not add more alpha slots when the current ones run out, if you buy after that you'll need to pay extra for access to each module. It'll also limit the amount of people who buy the alpha/beta and then complain when the game is buggy because they didn't understand what they were buying.
