No comment on the rampant use of exploits in Powerplay 2.0?

Folks have been using a duplication bug to farm merits using data ports at Odyssey settlements. I assumed fdev would have put the kibosh on this immediately or even went as far as to acknowledge it, but I haven't seen anything. It's kind of hard to take the new update seriously when the only choice you can make is either lose to cheaters or become one of them.

fdev typically don't comment on exploits until they are removed, presumably as it just encourages unaware players to take part and possibly get involved in being punished.

Players often get too focussed on minor exploits - it won't have a long term effect on the game.

Things must be pretty bad at FD HQ. Bugs that benefit the player are the ones they like fixing the most.
I'm quite happy with not going back to the days of swinging the nerf bat at anything that got a player over 100 million credits an hour. Perhaps this means they're taking a balanced approach and trying to make sure they minimise any collateral damage.

For what it's worth, while the exploit is fairly widely-known ... the actual use of it seems to be relatively low: total changes in system control appear to be about the same as last cycle (before it got to be known) and the top-10 screenshots from various powers don't seem at all out of line with the previous week.

So while it obviously won't be pleasant if people are using it specifically on your system, the vast majority of merits still appear to be honest ones.

I uploaded the same malware to all their data ports but when my leader asked, I swore they was all unique like snowflakes, to maximize all the merits they felt I was owed

Are any of those comments from fdev? I'll give you a hint: NOPE
I'm sorry if you feel so personally violated that you need to start your own thread, when there are already several addressing this issue, but FDev will be aware (it's the second most voted for issue on the Issue Tracker) and as Factabulous explained they're not going to advertise it.

If you haven't already you might want to add your vote on the Issue Tracker, then maybe have a lie down.
