Copy. No CG, as such. However, there is today's Galnet article, "Help Needed to Crack the NMLA's Network."

I've got the completed cipher key and used it to decipher today's HIP 290 listening post message. Is there a thread where I should post them for ACT? Or should I just keep it to myself and wait to see what happens next? ;)

Okay... here goes. This one's not a competition, so I'll use hidden spoiler text. Don't click on the spoiler if you want to solve this yourself.

CODE BREAKER:
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ=VUXWZYBADCFEHGJILKNMPORQTS

This is a simple variable rotation cipher with a rotation pattern of 75-repeating.

HIP 290 Omega Grid 1, received on 3 Feb 3308 (I've decapitalized appropriately and added punctuation for readability)

This is Torquatus. Abandon work on establishing a new NMLA figurehead. No existing candidates have sufficient support to replace Theta Seven. His martyrdom was expected, but has unfortunately happened ahead of schedule. For now, concentrate on avoiding detection. There will be other chances to remove the remaining Duvaln [sic] (I think Torquatus means "Duvals").

I've deciphered this week's second NMLA Omega Grid message. This information may have already been posted elsewhere by other CMDRs, but for those who may be following this thread for help, spoiler follows.

Having visited the HIP 290 beacon yesterday, I received a message sent to me personally in game from Captain Landau today. It gave me another partial cipher and directed me to the Saffron system. The partial cipher given was:

FGIJKOPQRUVWXY = SR3PN4JHG5CBZY

This is a modified rotation cipher where vowels exempted. Vowels AEIOU are simply replaced with numbers 12345. Consonants are reversed and shifted, such that BCDFGHJKLMNPQRSTVWXYZ = WVTSRQPNMLKJHGFDCBZYX.

This gives the complete inverse cipher: 1BCD2FGH3JKLMN4PQRST5VWXYZ = AWVTESRQIPNMLKOJHGFDUCBZYX

The deciphered message received from the Saffron Unknown Beacon on 4 Feb 3308, with decapitalization and punctuation added for readability, is:

"Ursula, ets [sic] (it's?) Alberto again. You have to help me. I've left Capitol with my family to avoid IISS questioning. What if that Landau woman really can crack our Omega Grid? Karl promised me that was impossible. You know I've always been loyal to you and the other lords, but I never dreamt our work could expose me personally. Do something!"

I'm wondering whether the typos from both messages might not be intentional. "Duvaln" instead of "Duvals", and "ets" instead of "its". Curious...

I've deciphered this week's third Omega Grid message. Spoiler follows.

ACT has provided some bad intel. There appears to be an error in the partial cipher provided by ACT. For example, QU=R yields gibberish. This is a modified rotation (Caesar) cipher where vowels are exempted. The inverse cipher is:

2BCD2FGH2JKLMN2PQRST2VWXYZ = AYZBECDFIGHJKLOMNPQRUSTVWX
There is ambiguity with respect to the vowels. 2 could be A, E, I, O, or U. In deciphering, one must guess which is correct.

The deciphered message received from the Maidjin Network Beacon on 5 Feb 3308, with decapitalization and punctuation added for readability, is:

"Colonel Brock (due to vowel ambiguity, this could potentially be Brack, Breck, Brick, or Bruck) reporting to Senator Nerva. We've had to disband the remaining training camps. My soldiers caught and executed several ACT agents among the latest intake. If you want us to continue working for the Lordn [sic] (Lords?) of Restoration, we must renegotiate our agreement. The current situation is not sustainable."

There is now consistently one typo, coincidental or not, in each of the three messages. Dulaln, ets, and Lordn, with N, E, N erroneously replacing S, I, S. We'll have to see if this pattern continues. If these errors have been placed intentionally, I'm not sure how FDev would reconcile this with language versions other than English. Does anyone know how the deciphered messages appear in other languages?
