No Conflict Zone At Specified Mission System

So I pick up a bulletin board mission to kill 4 war zone targets in a system. I go to the required system and there are indeed two factions at war in that system. But there are no conflict zones. Bit stumped here folks.
 
I'm afraid that's a known bug. Best to check before you take the mission that there there are conflict zones in the stated system.
 
You won't see the conflict zones on your navigation unless you are within 1,000 Ls of the zones.

Don't jump to the conclusion of a bug, too many people do that already. I'm pretty sure they are there.

Some of these missions ARE impossible. You can get "Kill 7 pirates" and find no RES or Nav Beacons in that system too. There are mission chain/branching issues in assassinations too. Missions have had a complete rewrite in 1.3, which is due a couple of weeks time alongside PowerPlay and hopefully a bunch of other stuff. This is the longest time between major updates since Gamma, so I'm hoping for some other nice things to keep things interesting in space.

This ^ - I had the exact thing last night. Took the mission (two actually), jumped in and no sign of any conflict zones. Flew around, took a couple of USS, decided to land at an outpost and only then did they appear when I was in range of that particular outpost.

Did the same with the second mission, no sign of the zones until I flew within range of the outpost and then they appeared on the nav computer.
 
I opened a ticket about this bug a few months ago and got a reply 10 days ago:

This is an automated response to let you know that your bug report from January was categorised, prioritised, passed onto internal bug team for further investigation & resolution.

In that case, go check out USS/WSS/SSS. I get all my "Kill X Pirates" at the signal sources. For the conflictzones, i did run into that situation too. "Get X kills in Combat/Warzone" and there was no action going on in the target system. Did check all planets (ADS in use).

Had both of those "problems" yesterday. No nav or RES for pirates and no obvious CZ for a warzone mission.
In the end, I found my pirates in a USS and SSS. For the warzone, the CZ showed when I got closer to a planet in the system.
So don't jump to conclusions, there most likely is a way to finish those missions.

Well I've been everywhere in Lave due to being given missions for warzone there and I can tell you for sure there are NO warzones in Lave right now. So definitely bugged
