No content - game still sucks

Like I pointed out a long time ago on the alpha forums, this game is going to suck when released due to lack of features. Today, there are several critical reviews out on the REAL internet (where this forum's moderators have no power to delete or lock reviews/topics!).

This forum is like the government in V for Vendetta - ligitimate criticisms and complaints are brutally oppressed. But the game is just so completely lacking in features that the complaints keep coming. FIX THE GAME instead of trying to "fix" the players.

One way to do that would be to get rid of the connection between solo and online gameplay. Let the solo players play without letting them impact the online world. Another way would be to let players have more control over the game world, at the least beign trading. Let it be a player controlled market - Frontier shouldn't try to be so patriarchical. That if, Frontier acts like a parent who thinks they know better than the player and thus must maintain control over our actions, lest we become "unruly" or "too independent". It's the frigging nanny state here that's really fudged up.

TRUST the players instead of making us "subordinate" to you guys. Let us control the market... it'll work out as it does in other games, or even in the real world.

Make this game a true sandbox rather than a hand held, catholic school where everyone is considered a jerk that needs to be controlled and whose actions must be "guided" by the developers. Stop developer events in the game and let players trigger them. Don't make them scripted. Don't do any more of those developer directed linear missions. Just let us play a sandbox game where *WE* make the rules - allow for emergent gameplay.

Don't be afraid of learning from better ideas like EVE.

Freedom is the best game there can be. Think about it and change your ways, Frontier!

Just because people do not agree with you doesn't mean your opinions are being brutally oppressed.

I disagree with most of what you posted, and polls consistently show a ton of people happy with the game.

What you have is an opinion that seems right to you - so maybe this just isn't the game for you right now.

Why does everyone call on Eve as a totem for good gameplay. I hated Eve. If ED went that route there would be one customer less for sure. I bought ED BECAUSE it wasn't Eve

You're right that this game isn't for me. Hence I'm complaining - I am an alpha backer and have a right to demand a correction in game development.

I have been playing for about five weeks now and I am liking the game, sorry you're not. I knew exactly what the game had to offer before I bought it so my expectations have been more than met. Compared to other PvPvE I have played, this is at the top of my list.

In the year 3300 I'd hope they adopt and perfect gene-screening for reproductive purposes citing this thread as to why...

And now the FD weather according to some of the forum's inhabitants :
It's going to be mostly wrong, with patches of wrongness heading in from the coast, concentrating most errorly around this area of high pressure wrongness.
Add to that vast incoming fronts of self-entitlement, mixed in with general feelings of toys being thrown from prams and general trip-trap noises.

I think you make some interesting points but in the wrong way and wrong manner which is why you'll get flamed and shot down. It was only released December so what we've had barely 3 months of a released game. Wings has come quickly. As an example look at World of Warcraft on release and compare it to now? games need time to grow and Elite will be the same. Give this game 18 months it will have so much more to do and content than now. I think your expectations maybe need to be rained in. Remember Elite isn't a simple MMO or Dungeon Crawler with 20 levels of such it's a massive galaxy with lots happening, the basics need to work before the overall picture forms. I'm sure the devs and David Braben look at games like SC, Eve and other MMOs..... after all a lot of these come from the fact David founded and created the original Elite.
