No content reveal stream before release

I did not feel it was appropriate to 'nag' about this yesterday, having gotton such good news [happy]
today I still feel like mentioning it though, so here I go...


This is a part of my post when the vintage pack was released :

"Those streams always show how much love Sam has for the game and it's interesting to hear what he's got to say about it. Which - I really want to add - I will always choose over some youtube streamers ! Please never take it so far that they get to stream first and developers streams become secondary or even permanently cancelled
Can't imagine that happening, then again, I can.... so hey, I wrote it down juuuuust in case you were considering this here's my two cents already"

( I wrote that because in that livestream Ed was mentioning several times how youtubers planned to stream right after and it felt like he was worried about time. )

Ok, I realise we had developers talking about the free update. I know I know.
Still, leaving the pack contents reveal to streamers - as it sure seems like what is planned - it does not interest me the same way.
All they can do is show us evertything. That's it. Not the same at all.
And hearing their 'oehs and aahs' is not the same as seeing Sam showing off their (love for their) work [yesnod]
Plus, the two versions can perfectly co-exist. Someone who wants to see every piece before buying - or just excited - will still watch a streamer too ...


I just wanted to say this decision genuinely saddens me.

EDIT : some people seem to misinterpret this post ...
This thread is not about Sam ok - if this was your conclusion, please read again ;-) I should have left his name out of the title I guess, but I couldn't forsee this happening :)
(also just used to it being him doing the content reveal streams so therefore automatically using his name.)
And yes, I'm aware that Rob is a developer! They've even been on the update livestream together just recently!
Last reminder : the pack is released the 16th, first developer stream is the 17th. Surely there cannot be any misinterpretation left now :-s

You do know Rob Chisholm is part of the development team of Frontier?

I think it's good they give other devs the opportunity to present the packs in the livestreams as well.

Robert is part of the development team at Frontier. Whilst we love your support of the awesome Sam we want to also celebrate the other people who have worked on Planet Coaster where we can :)

( I've enjoyed listening to every developer that's been on a stream
I put Sam's name as I was 'recalling'. )

My post was about favoring youtube streamers for revealing the content of the new pack. (instead of a developer) Which it seems like how it is planned this time around ...

A developer IS highlighting the content in the stream. Robert is a developer here at Frontier. if you are confused by the (YouTube) part of the livestream post that is referring to where it will be hosted (i.e. YouTube or Twitch, so in this case YouTube) NOT where the person is known from.

Hope that makes sense.

What he means is that he prefers an livestream with the devs (make it any dev) over the ones the Youtubers make.
But this time that livestream is on wednesday, the day AFTER the pack is released. So in this case the Youtubers get priority in showcasing the content on their own channels, in which he is NOT interested. [up]

Right, OK that makes a lot more sense! Thought we were going to get stuck into a who is and who isn't a member of Frontier (and maybe the eventual horror of finding out I am not who I thought I was!). It's not a sneaky plan to let content creators show off the content, rather it's just a case of availability.

I would love to have that dev-stream one evening BEFORE release. It would definately hype me and when buying the DLC I know what's inside. In past and this time, too, we buy the DLC and guess what ... we PLAY the game then. Why should I watch a stream about the things in the DLC when I already purchased it? If the stream were one day before release I would definately watch the stream. I also think it would further boost sales. [big grin]

Maybe the delay this time is more around the readiness of the content rather than giving priority to specific people to showcase? The content may not be ready in time for a stream on Monday or this Friday (tomorrow). We all know that Frontier don't like to showcase something that isn't ready as when you do, you end up flummoxing Sam with how videos on doors work, lol.

It's the same reason that we've only seen one of the shops in any of the screens we have seen - despite there being many more than this coming. It would suggest that this is the only one that is ready to be made public.. The others are still WIP.

Stop, please. The pack is ready. We chose not to show all the brands in the teaser so we had some fun surprises leading up to October 16.

We did the 1.8 free update stream with Sam and will do the World's Fair stream with the bloody lovely Rob, who's super passionate about the game <3.

And i think this is a very good thing, i love to discover things directly in the game! We know what will look like the moroccan & chinese themes, and we saw a little of the italian theme. It's a good thing to let us discover the others countries themes directly in the game.

Ok so yesterday I made an edit note in my first post as to avoid others from possibly misinterpreting it again ( and they skip the comments below.)

I can imagine developers reading on the forums during dlc periods ... and I feel awful at the thought Rob and Sam may have also gotten the wrong idea ... (or through office talk)
Maybe somebody could pass on the message so this is cleared up to them ...

Oh yeah I read it the other way around as well.

If it really comes down to availability of the devs, I'd rather have it this way than wait another week for release just so a dev could stream first!

But I get your point, it'd be nice if they would've shown the pack in a stream this week to build anticipation.
