no elite yet

So I have made 150mil in exploration and I am 92% pioneer
Is the 150mil mark still valid to get elite in exploration or somethin changed ?

I have made more that that and am 64% Pioneer.

The Pioneer range seems to be 1 million = 1% increase in rating, so you have 8 million to go...

Agree with the 1M = 1%. So, yes, nearly there.

The Threshhold seems to be just under 160M. Exactly where it is will vary according to when you earned the credits, since the 'rates of pay' have changed twice now. The first time was around March when they were doubled. They also increased in 1.5/2.0, according to rumours, by about 20% (which I really do not understand. At that rate it is still the worst paying role by a considerable margin. A pitiful pay riase seems almost more insulting than none at all - at least we could put that down to being unloved).

When they doubled the rates of pay, they adjusted your personal target based on how much you had earned thus far. So I hit Elite at 119M, because I had just under 40M earned at the old rate, which was the equivalent of 80M at the new rate.

Dont make the same mistake I did - 18m short after a Sag A trip so I decided to nip out for a quick bit of farming to get Elite. Ended up not farming anything and going to >65kLy - still not sure how I got suckered into that :)

Wow, that's the worse mis-jump I've ever heard of. I'm not saying it's Thargoids, but...

Agree with this. I just hit Elite as well Annuver -guess we are on the same class of 3302! LOL - and reached Elite on 143 MM.

I too earned credits before the payouts went double, but started playing later than you did. I never understood the Level 2 and level 3 scans though.

I guess the 160 MM threshold is for the "newbies" playing since Summer, after payout adjustments made.

The formula for rank gain isn't just about exploration profits, it is more complicated and involves the number of scans, possibly distance traveled, etc. The profits part is approximate and people observe that different folks hit elite at different profit points. Honk and scoot people take longer to reach elite because they do less scans, etc.

Yup, that's what I thought too!! But I am comparing my own numbers to Annuver, for instance...and all the metrics seems to be all over the place! I have more level 3 scans than he does, for instance. I am not sure what that means, but he still got elite in less credits than I did. As per systems visited, I have around 1,000 more than he does. Yet, I got elite "later", credits wise! :S:S:S

I mean, is all good, all what I am saying is that this seems to confirm his theory that is based on the adjustments made to exploration payouts as I can't link it to anything else.

I would argue that having it affected by the number of systems you visit, or the distance travelled would be a very bad idea, since that would further encourage honk and jump travelling rather than 'proper' exploration (yes, yes, I know). But FD do seem to like to encourage us to do daft things.

Since I did a pile of exploration fairly early on, before they introduced the level 2 and 3 scans, I would also hope those had little to do with it, as that would further penalise early explorers.

I just completed selling all my data from my trip to the core. 114m total exploration profit, Pioneer 67%. I am actually a bit miffed now because I distinctly remember that 100m was the threshold for Elite (before 2.0 I suppose?), and basically just the timing of when I went screwed me. :(

It's definitely 1 million=1% at Pioneer level for me - another 35% to go.
I've made a number of short trips recently that bear this out.

At my current rate of increase, I will probably hit 200 million before I earn Elite from money. But since I'm driving a lot I will probably set a record by hitting Elite at a low ball 69 million.

The magic number.

Naw, you were not screwed. They adjusted everyone when they doubled the revenue. If you have 114M and are Pioneer 67%, you can expect to hit Elite at around 147M.
