No Elon Musk spaceport ingame?

Hello Cmdrs o7,

I've took a look to eddb and couldn't find any station with his name.

I would appreciate a spaceport with his name in the near future.

He is a real visionary.

o7

Thoughts?

A business man with marketing? I guess he is much more. Landing rocket stages on landing pads and drone ships, Tesla, Hyperloop, Dragon capsule?

I think the point is that almost all stations or places or whatever named after real people or things are tributes. Hard to tribute a guy who's not even 50. Also much easier to use a name or reference as a tribute since it very rarely if ever leads to any arguement or angry debate or whatever.
Arguably if Elite were to name a station after some *famous expletive* they could sue Elite implying that Frontier are only trying to use the *expletives* famous name to get their game publicity. I'd argue it'd never happen with Musk or Elite but lets face it stranger things have happened.

TL: DR - It'll probably come but not for another 40-60 years.

Thing is, right now hes just a businessman (alebit a visionary) who has a lot of ideas and is paying a lot of clever people to make things for him.
The guy will no doubt leave a legacy which is what he no doubt wants but right now he hasn't actually achieved much above what NASA and other have been doing for decades.

Its spectacular to watch, its pushing the boundaries of technology and sending a car into space is pretty fun... But before Musk started we launched the voyager probes, landed people on the moon, landed on an asteroid, landed on an awful lot of planets...

The sticking point for recognition will always be that he's the money, same as someone like Richard Branson rather than the science brains which is what most of the stations are named after.

There might not be a station yet but if you're willing to donate a million credits toward it's construction you'll get a decal and a baseball cap and the opportunity to buy a flamethrower or a nice set of steak knives.

He's a right berk.

Edit - For our US cousins a berk is like a "Jeremy Hunt" (Former Culture Secretary and now nemesis ward of the NHS) just not so clever.... which is saying something.

The Falcon Heavy has twice the lifting capacity of anything NASA’s got, and at a third the price. Plus, they’re moving much faster on their projects than NASA is.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m one of the biggest NASA fans around, but frankly I’m sick of waiting on them to send people to Mars. At this rate, SpaceX will beat them to the mark by years, maybe even decades.

His dream is to die on Mars, just not whilst landing, so probably there is Musk Central somewhere down on that terraformed unlandable world in game, its Just we can’t select it, yet......

My TV is 10 times bigger than the one i had in the 1990s and 20times lighter (not real values), we don't have a station named after the guy who invented flatscreen TVs.

I agree, he is certainly helping technology advance at a rapid rate by throwing cash at it but other than advancing technology then he's not achieved more.

If he gets people to the moon or mars, or manages to get one of his other crazy funded schemes off the ground then yes he will get his place in history but at the moment hes just doing the same as the rest (but with a little more flair)

So to put this into perspective. The dude who developed radar won the allied forces air superiority in the second world war. He did it in the name of King George VI. Who should get the station named after them? Sir Robert Watson-Watt or a billionaire figure head? (who admittedly has a vested interest in the success of the project).

Fun fact : The myth that carrots are good for night vision came from a miss-information ploy by the RAF to disguise the use of Radar from the Germans.

Pretty sure there’s already a Watt Somethingorother in-game already.
