No "free" simulation mode?

So, first of all let me praise the game so far. Played the campaign (was a little short), played chaos theory (which was fun, but easy) and now I wanted to do challenge mode, expecting what we had in the first game.

Now my problem:
I don't like sandbox, since I'm playing for the challenge, yet I don't want to gimp myself with the current challenge mode - it only no research, no progression and limited dinosaur pool, restrictive quest goals and I can't choose the era, the weather and all that good stuff you could before.

I want a mode where you play the regular park simulation, start from scratch without everything researched, work your way up to 5 stars, just like the old challenge mode. There is no option in the game to let me just play the "plain" game.

Interested in just the nublar map, building a park from scratch? Not possible outside of sandbox or chaos theory.

Anything coming at a later date in this regard?

This topic is a massive user complaint and one that Frontier should listen to and add to. You are another person among many who have complained. As easy as before starting the Sandbox mode to be able to choose between these two options:

-Excavations and Genomes completed: Yes / No

-Investigations completed: Yes / No.

And that's it, with this we already have a free mode within the Sandbox itself.

Very easy to add and would give users what we want.

A hybrid mode somewhere between current sandbox and challenge would make all the difference to me. I want to love this game so bad, but I feel too limited in challenge and, personally, bored by the god-mode "sandbox" with infinite genomes and no research tree. I can see it so clearly please give me my dino park game!

Totally, agree!

And it would be so simple to make all the players happy, it's just like Parritron said: the only thing we need are those two additional options in the sandbox settings...

Turn research on and off

Turn expeditions and fossil extractions on and off (along with the random digsites option we had in the first game)

...that is really all we need. Those of us who want progression can play with those options turned on and those who simply want to build and have everything unlocked from the start can turn it off. Done, nothing more needed, everyone can choose the way the enjoy playing the most.

Well, there should also be everything unlocked without the grind for those who don't care about the other modes but I think that's a whole other can of worms.

Iam down i did my own post about that issue i really just want old challenge mode back where i can choose the era and off course pls dont forget that "random digsites" this small option gives the game so much replayabillity i dont know if frontier is just plain sadistic or evil i never saw so many restrictions and limitations in a freaking park builder where u should have totall freedom in the first place
I mean challenge mode was perfect as it was in jwe1 how can u possibly make it better? Certainly not with more and more restrictions thats the wrong way to go

The worst part of challenge mode is the pointless restrictions. No carnivores and no gene tampering is my least favourite made all the worst by the way that is the only map of a semi reasonable size. (It's still far to small and whoever decided to split it into 3 sections like that ought to be fired)

These ones are justified in the sense that Frontier, for JWE2, decided to employ a different approach to challenges that would be, well, challenging.
