No fun in exploring???

Finally got to run 2.2 last night (after Beta testing) and continued back with my real Commander.
I decided to look for geysers in the 2.2 release to evaluate any further changes from the Beta.
Having found an active planet near a gas giant I approached my chosen search area and was confronted by what you see in the picture.
For no atmosphere this was VERY atmospheric!
An extremely careful IMC (foggy) approach to land in a kms deep fissure was carried out which was like the Nostromo landing in Alien. (Minus the howling winds as far as I could tell)

An SRV exploration followed which was like a foggy day on the M25. Didn't find any geysers though! :p

Great fun!

Geysers are very very rare. Ive spent 14 hours searching candidates and nothing. But the search continues, i might go back to just getting as many tagged and systems explored on the far side of the galaxy. It seems the content frontier have inserted in some cases is very hard to find, not very accessible, whereas other content is easy to access.

All i can say is if we want more content in deeep space, we need more commanders engaging in deep space exploration.

Fdev it would appear think along these lines, place select limited content, create a grind search a fest around it, ( barnacles, UAs, crashed alien ship, jaques and now the alien relic sites, just one spot.) Get the whole community focused on one thing. there is some more regular conent that many commanders engage in in smaller numbers over a larger area ( geysers, organic growth and other things are a start)

But its all from metrics, so if we want more programming resources devoted to deep space
One reason nebulas are popular and have a little more content is they are points where commanders do stuff. I do my best to cover as muc hspace as i can but it will take hundreds and thousands to keep at it but we can remain optimistic. Move away from the grind and go exploring. Turn in the data and see where Frontier go with their metrics

I am having more fun than ever exploring!

I take my fighter laden conda to a planet, preferably a tiny planetoid (under 600km radius) as I find these most interesting potato shaped things to have the best features

I launch my fighter and quickly find a point of interest... home in on it while my crew diligently bring the mother ship closer to the surface..

I find something interesting.. maybe a poi.. maybe just a huge cavern to race through..

I get back in my mothership and land, deploy my srv and start searching.. simply loving it
