No 'HMD Headphones' option in ED 3D settings?

So back into ED and i thought i would run it with my G2v2 Reverb, but i don't have an HMD Option in 3D settings.

I re-installed my PC yesterday to get rid of Windows 11 (Yuk!) and ED was working before with my old G1 Reverb.

The only difference is that i don't have SteamVR installed yet, was trying to avoid using Steam VR. Do i need it to run ED in VR? if not then how do i get to run my G2 in Elite?

Yes, the game speaks with Oculus, and SteamVR.

It may possible to use: https://gitlab.com/znixian/OpenOVR/-/tree/openxr instead. It poses as OpenVR (SteamVR), and wraps OpenVR calls to your WMR runtime, through its OpenXR API.

If that works, you may also be able to use: https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/ to do some fixed foveated rendering, and sharpening, and stuff.

For me the easiest way to run EDO with my G2 is via Steam.
I have W10 with Steams “Mixed Reality VR App” installed, my EDO copy is actually from the Fronier store which generated a key so I can launch from Steam.
I also have the W10 “HP Reverb G2 VR Headset App” and the W10 “Mixed Reality Portal App” installed.
When I launch EDO from Steam I get the option to launch EDO in Steam VR mode (if the headset is poweded).
Once launched the game automatically starts in VR with the “Windows Mixed Reality Portal” & “Steam VR” apps automatically running in background.
