No honor in CODE?

Last night we had a wing going in Leesti, 3 clippers and a vulture, we had numerical superiority and came to an agreement with Code in the system that we would have mutual non-attack, we even had duels, first to drop shields.

A wing of 3 came into the system (when no code were around) they were killing NIC to overturn the independents, we killed one and the others ran from the system.

As the evening progressed, my wing had to leave, so I was on my own in the system (not wanted), now there are 6 to 8 code and for no reason one code member pulls me over and starts attacking (another clipper), his shields were quickly dispatched and he was only saved by other code members arriving on the scene to help him out, I left and suddenly I am public enemy #1 with code...for defending myself from unprovoked attack (I was ind, he shot first). The same code members from earlier in evening were attacking me, I question their actions later at station, they said just following orders. I not worry too much about loosing the ship (6 vs 1...) but it does raise the question:

1) Do code not honor their word? and attack anything only when they have superior numbers (our wing could have had control of leesti for 2 hours when only 3 code were around, in their lessor ships).

2) Or are there some rotten eggs in CODE? such as this other clipper (I am not 100% certain but the clipper pilot seemed to suggest to his buddies I had pulled him over and attacked first, only 80% on this one).

Who is the mouthpiece for CODE?

They can do what ever they want, just like you.

There seems to be this hidden "code of conduct" that some players assume that everyone should adhere to. The only code in the game is the game rules and not some made up sense of honor.

If they want to gank you, they can, the game allows it.

I see a lot of player jumping on the forums to complain they got killed, it's a joke.

Have some rep..

code is the one of the main scum in this game
what do you expect from a group of gankers?
only strong in numbers....and running chickens if odds are even

just watch their streams and you know what you are up against.....cowards
crying like babies if they lost shields.....running in panic...complaining about
teammates and using every exploit they can find

next time just kill them.....

So they are a loose fitting group of pirates who not keep to their word?

I not complain I get killed, I have been killed plenty of times, and will be also in the future. I could have left the system for the 20 or 30 minutes they hunt me.

I watched once just because I was bored at the time but you are right, I found it both amusing and rather pitiful.

Pirates running away from a fair fight? Tell me it ain't so. My image of pirates as fine upstanding gents who play by the rules has been shattered.

Its a living breathing universe if I want to fly out and blow up loads of people for no reason what so ever then I can, if I want to form a band of like minded people to attack things that's ok too.

Personally I just fly around doing the odd mission, trading etc like loads of us actually do. What I'm more concerned with is salvaging is considered stealing but that's another topic.

Getting killed in Elite is a hazard its something you have to learn to adjust to (didn't say live with that would be a bad pun) after all loads of us have the problem but its just wash rinse repeat. Get back in the seat and keep going.

Dude, I didn't mean to come across all D***ish about it. But the game rules allow people to perform "hunts".

I believe you can just block these players so you don't see them in game, thats always an option.

You can even report them if they are ruining your game experience by camping your station or something, but even then it's down to FD to decide if the "rules" have been broken.

In my eyes if the game allows these guys to chase you about for 50 hours non stop then they are allowed to do so, on the other hand you can just jump into solo or group if it's that much of a problem, you could create your own group and take them on at their own game, you could just fly 2000ly away and leave there. The game allows 1000's of ways to negate these guys. Use one of them.

They can do what they want (within the rules of the game), but it's interesting to know how much worth their word is. If their word is worth nothing, then their promises are worth nothing, then paying them for not getting attacked is worthless (if they still try to blackmail people). Knowing if a group stands to their word allows the player to adjust to the situation (there is always a next encounter in hot spot regions).

Knowing the potential enemy is very important. Reputation can become very important.

Never trust a Pirate I guess.......Thats about right then I suppose.

Wait, CODE is still a pirate group? I thought they wanted to make the Lave region a tourist paradise and that they stopped their blackmailing and pirating business. I already had an appointment with my ship dealer about a nice Orca.
I thought I could offer nice pleasure cruises in the New Caribbean - cocktails, steel drum bands, and exotic food. You know, things like that.

There goes a dream of riches…

LOL this made me chuckle, but exactly...I mean people assuming the role of pirates and then not being entirely trustworthy and sometimes being a bit mean? Who would dream of such a thing. ^^

All power to them the game needs more of this kind of thing not less. Some people are posting about grouping up to take on the pirates......this is exactly the sort of thing that will make this game work long term not something to be knocked.

We are all pirates all it takes is one ship loss to many to tip us over the edge into bloodthirsty lunatics.

Hello Mrspoonsi,

Well I think some people may have got the wrong end of the stick. I am not sure you were looking for empathy or sympathy, more giving a general warning to others that might come to an arrangement with CODE to be be a little careful.

CODE are represented in laveradio Guild conclave episode 1, the cmdr name and I think forum name of the gentleman on the podcast is mentioned. He did elude to there being a CODE of conduct for CODE members and throwing people out for breaking it. He seems generally on the level and fair. I did not catch his name though.
