No Interstellar Factors in Sothis/Ceos area?

I've been spending some time in the Sothis/Ceos area, running cargo missions in a Cutter to build up Fed rep. And I keep getting interdicted by mission enemies and pirates. Often the cops show up (even though I don't really need their help), and some of them get in the way and get shot - and when they turn hostile, my turrets and SLF sometimes blow them up.

That happened 3 times yesterday, so I had to go to an Interstellar Factor to clear the bounty... and the nearest one is back in the Bubble, 10 jumps away. So that's 3 trips there and back, 60 jumps.

Why isn't there one in the vicinity? There are several systems out there (Sothis, Ceos, Robigo, Almagest etc). There are materials traders out there. But no Interstellar Factors?

If I switch off "Report crimes", would that stop the cops showing up?

Material traders and IF have almost opposite requirements for appearing.

IF need low security systems, or Anarchy factions in control of stations. Possibly all the local Anarchies have been chased out of control.

Yes. I run with it off all the time - despite there being plenty of IFs around - just to stop them scaring off the pirates before I can kill them.

It's the "report crimes against me" that brings the cops. If you don't need them, switch it off, otherwise don't use turrets or beam lasers.

Another thing: Don't waste your time fighting anybody that interdicts you. All it does is waste time that you could be running your missions. In a Cutter, you can ignore any NPC that interdicts you. Just submit, then boost until you can get your FSD going. That only takes a few seconds until you're back to doing what you planned.

Always a good idea to carry some heat sinks as well. Just pop one whenever a scan is detected if you're carrying anything naughty. Some of those passengers can get you into trouble.

OP perfectly illustrates why there needs to be more anarchy factions in control of systems.

NPC's always have this option switched on so cops will simply turn up to help them instead. Plus, as your ship has not reported a crime returning fire means you are firing on a clean ship.

Firing on a clean ship means assault bounties, then, if you kill them, murder bounties. That means more police and ATR...

That doesn't apply if the NPC already has a bounty, which the sorts of NPCs which interdict a clean ship - the pirates and mission enemies in the OP - will do.

Have to scan it first though... Plus, as they have a bounty of their own there is a good chance of a clean bounty hunter turning up too is there not?

Scan them, or wait for them to hit you once - though they did change it so that wanted NPCs have "report crimes" off, because it's not in their interests to call the police, and it'd only be a "reckless fire" fine, rather than a bounty.

A bounty hunter or police ship might well drop in on their wake anyway, but that only happens occasionally, and one target is easier to avoid hitting than an entire wing of police.

I heard that the Lockdown was over at Sothis - Ceos so I thought I would do some missions to up my Fed rank. I was thinking with my new and engineered Anaconda I could deliver a lot of cargo and get some rank.

Well... my first run from Ceos to Sothis I got interdicted twice with in about 5 minutes and when I summited I got my new Anaconda destroyed!

It was an NPC that got me. I did not see him coming on radar and I don't know what ship he was in but he locked my Anaconda so it has to be an Anaconda or bigger.

Any suggestions on how to handle the situation doing Sothis - Ceos runs?

Are you able to post your build?
Did you skip shields or a couple of hull reinforcements?

Don't submit...

And if you do, don't fly in a ship made from paper.

Noticed this yesterday also. It's a nice little place aside from accidental bounties from doing mercenary stuff etc. On the plus side, you can get to the Pleiades really quick if you turn yourself in.

When I started the rank grind, I used my AspX. I could not believe the amount of interdictions. I now run the rank grind in my Vulture and look forward to the interdictions for mats donations.
