No large rails?? - What should I use in this setup?

I've got three free hardpoints on a ship .. 2 x medium and 1 x large.

What I really want is 3 x rails but it doesn't look like large rails exist (I'm playing catch up on this). What could go well in the large point to compliment the two medium rails? It would be a bit of a waste to drop another medium rail in that slot but it would still be a nice collective punch.

I'm guessing that because of the instant hit of the rails, a large fixed beam would compliment them rather than a projectile?

Your thoughts on maximising pain / damage appreciated.

no large rails sadly there are a lot of holes in the weapon selection atm....
id put a pulse or beam in that slot so you can strip the shields and use that ammo where it counts.
or after 1.2 there will finally be a large plasma accelerator.
the problem will be the projectile speed the only thing besides a rail gun that will fire as fast will be an energy weapon. Works well as a tracer too to line up that shot once the rails charge up.

I have tried the large plasma in 1.2 beta in that slot. It does some serious damage but doesn't work well with rails as part of strike. Like you say, the projectile speed issue. I'll either sling a beam in there or redo the whole thing.

This is on a Dropship where I've put turrets on the sides to help out with the lack of manoeuverability ... leaving two meds and a large.

Gotcha yeah that fed ship is a bowling ball to fly. Acts like it doesn't know what flight assist is.
Best loadout I could come up with on that thing was 1 gimbaled beam and 4 gimbaled multis.
could try a turreted pulse and 4 rails.
i think getting rails to work will be more learning how to fling that ship around to line up a shot than anything else. That's a hard ship to fly and outfit. But tbh I don't think the damage loss of turrets is worth the constant dps. It seems to shine in bursting down other ships rather than engaged firefights.
