No love @ E3?

It's always been a trade show, it was never supposed to be open to the public.

They just didn't check your credentials too closely for the first 10 years. They've really cracked down hard recently though.

No Man's Sky has come on a lot in the 6th months since I first saw a link to it in these fora.
Brits may be rubbish at the foot ball, but we seem to be quite good a game development:)

I've got to say, can we stop collectively slagging young people off, with generalisations about what they want from a game.

Really.

Didn't we have enough of "Young people these days" when we were young?

One of the most popular games amongst the young'uns I know is Minecraft. It's certainly does not pander to instant gratification, short attention spans, accessibility or any of those modern game type things. Yet it's the only game many 10-15 year olds talk about!

Rich, lush worlds full of interesting things to do and discover (and shoot!). They're just doing it in single player, and without the rest of Elite's scope or scale.

That doesn't make it any less impressive, and I couldn't care less how "unrealistic" or "cartoony" it looks, because it's not the graphics, or the flight model, or the space combat that are wowing me.

As Elite fans we should be excited about it because it shows us (and the rest of the world) what's possible with PG in a way a TED talk simply can't. If Hello Games can walk the walk on this one, it will be good for all of us.

Couldn't agree more.

ED and NMS are similar in some (maybe lots!) of ways - but the feel (and I suspect the game-play experience) seem like they're going to be *ahem* worlds apart.

ED looks like a challenging, deep, gritty hard-sci-inspired game, whilst NMS is a joyful, knock-about, explore-em-up pulp-sci-fi game.

Love both concepts and will definitely purchase both games. In fact, I may buy a PS4, depending on the length of exclusivity.

One good thing about NMS. It does provide FD with a bar to rise above of. It's always nice to have competition and a moving target. Especially if you have the talent to compete and hopefully surpass the competition.

I liked the look of NMS it is beautiful in a cartoon network sort of way. It doesn't look very deep and quite arcade like where I prefer a more involved semi real game where controls require skill to use well.

I'm sure ED will do well. They aren't rushing to get everything done at once and are staying focused. Looking forward to this game :)

I was thinking this, not just about NMS, but also about SC

I stand corrected (shocking I know).

There's a unbelievable outpouring of love for ED hitting the wires all day today. Hooray!

Most of the articles are correct too!

I'm a happy cry baby now :D
