General / Off-Topic No Man’s Sky coming to Xbox One

I'll definitely give it a shot, but it will never never never replace ED for me. It just doesn't have the realism I'm looking for. Plus the aesthetic is more like a cartoon than anything else. But it'll give me something to do when I want to take a break from Elite (but still want to fly around in space).

Just seen that No Man’s Sky is coming to Xbox One (full 4K HDR too for the One X).

Anyone going to give it a shot?

I bought a PS4 just to be able to play that hot loaf of garbage at it's release date (before I realized what ED was, and bought that for my XB1). I played for about sixty hours of game time over the course of two months, and it never. Got. Better. I had more fun playing Starflight on my old Sega Genesis.

When the free update hits, I may sign back in and see how much it has improved, but I can't see it pulling me back from ED for any appreciable amount of time. Among the things that bother me about it are that every system is in technicolor; the only time you see black space is in the galaxy map. Gets annoying after a while. On the good side, I can play MLB The Show on my PS4.

You can't be serious? People have already dropped a lot more than £500 on ships for it. We're easily in the $1000's...game's not even officially out yet and it's already a joke and a hive of villainy...

You’re joking....right? Please tell me people aren’t paying that much real money for a virtual spaceship. Save my faith in humanity Mole. Tell me youre full of horse poo lol.

Err...I was around £500 in with one flying JPeg that hadn't even got past the drawing board and a middle class ship (Constellation Aquila) something akin to the Anaconda. I refunded after the debacle surrounding Gamescom last year...that and falling through my nice ship randomly as I played.

I was only in the lower tier of eejits paying money for pictures of ships. As TWJ mentioned, there are folks with... seriously... many thousands of $/£ into this debacle

I bought a few bits for the PC with the refund and filled my domestic heating oil for a year...

My Andromeda 'loan' ship since the Aquila was a JPeg for most of my time in SC...

If it's sold as Indy game for a 30 ~ 40 bucks I will pick it up.

I've play it a few minutes on PS4 , and I kinda liked it.

I thought it was just me but I really can’t connect with the art design that I’m seeing either. Its like there’s no weight to any of it. ED on the other hand has completely hollow planets and yet when you’re landing it feels like a planet.

I played it when i had a PS4 last year and honestly it sucked. The game had little content and was running at around 20FPS (i dread to think what it will run like on Xbox).

Since then i have played it on PC in 4k and i actually enjoy it, there is alot more content now and it appears multiplayer may be coming soon. However as the game will be £35 judging by the amazon pre order i would just wait until it drops below £25.

NMS seems to be offering something that ED is not : Living planets to interact with. This something I have been wanting to do for a long time; I cant understand why this area is so poorly developed in ED.
