No merit decay for first week?

Right, it's that time of the day when we need another merits topic. But this time the topic of the topic is different. Topic.

I'll keep it short and sweet:
I had ~2200 merits banked last week, and some 600+ unclaimed. After the reset one of the prominent FDevs stated that merit decay will be 6/7th of the predicted, due to the earlier reset error, and furthermore, that all unclaimed merits will be deposited in our account. So far so good.

But now I have 2569 merits carried over from last week.. Now, whether you're a proponent of "1250 to 10k" or "5333 to 10k" merits calculation theory or any of the more fringe ones, it's obvious that in my case numbers just don't add up...

What's with that? How's everyone else's merits decay? Are all of the calculations and everything we know from manual and dev comments wrong?

Is it possible that they mucked up the math and gave you 7/6 of your merits rather than 6/7?

I seem to remember my merits being somewhat higher than I thought, too, but don't have the actual numbers.

Yes. My one are higher too. I should have just a bit more than 1500 and they listed 1800 for last week.
Maybe the halfing is still ahead and instead 750 due to their correction it will be 900.
But if so then I wonder WHEN that halfing takes place.. before or after the new Rank is calculated.

It's all really unclear.. but ED never gives any clear info on mechanics.
So I guess the only thing we can do is to go safe if you want a specific rank for sure next week and take the worst case scenario.

Giving 7/6 instead of 5/6 would be consistent with the maths FD use elsewhere in the game (ie everything is fudged and tweaked).

They did indeed mess up the decay, there are various bug reports about it. Someone at Frontier needs to go back to math school :)

Also, they may well decide to take it back so I wouldn't rely on it being there next cycle.
