No more Federation missions? Suggestions please.

I did the first two missions for the Federation Navy and am a Cadet. However my last mission was about 30 playing hours ago. I've been sure to stay in Federal systems (Barnard's Star, Wise 7027 etc), dock at Federal stations and have been doing loads of jobs for local federal factions to keep them liking me and as a result my rep is Friendly. But they're just not offering me any more missions? I didn't fail them once.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to get the Navy to approach me again?

I just picked a Fed system, worked for them till I was "Allied" then moved on to the next system. After cutting a path of about 50ly of Fed Allied systems, I worked my way up to Warrant Officer is it? Ensign? I can't remember the title. The promotion missions are crazy different though, for one promotion I had to hunt down and destroy a rogue Federal dropship. that was crazy tough, but the next promotion mission was literally, ferry this 4 tons of medicine to the next door station that already has tons of medicine. Congrats! Field Promotion! :)

Honestly, I'm hoping they rework the ranking systems. they should have a path for combat, logistics/hauling, exploration, etc. I need more trees to climb and grind. And each should offer unique rewards from each faction, special modules, weapons, ship parts, etc. The permits to new star systems is nice. But if the only trees I can climb are Federation and Empire, I'm gonna be top of the pile pretty quickly. ( I would imagine with everyone else in the game as well.)

I have gotten up to ensign pretty much just while trading between two or three close-by worlds and running every convenient mission that comes up. Only took about 4 days.

I'm also an ensign, and it was quick and easy. But it has been about 4 days since reaching that rank and I have not gotten another mission since. So... I have no advice... but you're not the only one wondering about the promotions.

Keep at it folks. It doesn't take much, I am Friendly or Allied in most Fed systems from Chemaku to Altair and somewhere along the way I upgraded to Post Commander. Been here for some time now. Not sure if there are any additional ranks beyond that.

So how do I find these missions? I'm in alliance space, but there's one system that's controlled by Feds. I've been hostile/unfriendly with them for ages, but I still got a rank mission from them. However, it's my only one, and I haven't seen any others. Do they show up randomly in a Fed system or at a Fed station or something?

Sounds like shrinkshooter is in the same boat as me, but the rest of you are at least being offered fed missions. They just aren't appearing on my job board since I completed the cadet mission.

Sod it. I'll go to the Empire and sell them my skills. Snooze you lose El Presidente!

@Hayta: What Baker said is true, but the extra benefit is better trading and bounty missions from the Allied stations.
At this moment, I easily get from 100k-310k gold/silver/palladium transport missions from one of the Fed stations OR Auto-Fabricators/Robotics purchase/transport missions of the same amount. Most of these I can finish in my Cobra with 32t cargo. While I do have a T6, it is much easier to Bounty-hunt and do these missions than waiting/moving rares in an T6 to earn almost the same amount of money....not to mention, it is much more fun in a Cobra than an T6 while trading.

Im in a similar boat im Imperial Space. I really, really want that Clipper, but cannot get them to offer me any more rank missions since I hit Serf. Ive been doing nothing but running missions for the Imperials all day and nada. Very frustrating.

I was just going to post the same thing. I've done two missions and got to Cadet and then the missions have just stopped appearing. I have been to several high technology high population Federation systems but so far zip. Maybe another obscure undocumented game mechanic is at work.

For me the mission where I could get the permit to Sol was under the section of missions I couldn't take. So I started on my way to Sol on my own.

The Federal progression missions do pop up again, I got one last night. I stuck around the Vega system and did the BB missions from there, and other nearby systems. I had to destroy some General in an Anaconda for my promotion, for which I got a permit for Hors, and reached the dizzy height of Lt Commander.

I helped my brother complete what would have been the next mission for me. Killing a general in a Federal Dropship. It was his mission but he has an Adder so wanted my help. So I jumped into his FSD wake, got the target down to 5%, then let him finish the kill.
He completed the mission fine but that was when my fed missions seemed to dry up and was a loooooooong time of playing ago (about 30 hours of doing standard BB missions as posted earlier). So does make me wonder if helping another player screwed up my progression.

The Empire is a bit dull and sparse. Not worth the trip. Gonna head back to Federal space and try again. If I get board waiting again then I'll head to Lave and see what's going on there.

Completed 2 Federation missions 2-3 days ago and haven't seen another mission since - most of that time has been spent in Federation space.

I gave up on these missions after being unable to find the General after an hour. Btw, can a viper or cobra finish him off easily?

Yeah thats where im at also, no more missions after being told to go to hors (which never tells you anything)

Bazzaman, i killed him in a viper. takes a bit to work out the blind spots but very do-able.

About 30 mins after I posted I hadn't seen any Federation missions for ages I suddenly got two at once. The second of which was the invitation to Sol. It looks like you just have to keep plugging away at missions and the Fed missions will turn up eventually.

No more since those two so far though!
