No more Painite?

I've started from scratch with a pc account ( and boy, the graphics, smooth manouvering and option choices ! ) anyway, unlocking engineers again I wonder, with all the new minerals with the new release, did they leave out Painite by mistake. I mean I know what I'm doing , pristine metal ring etc... hours.... nothing!
unless Opals are used for some essential engineering by space port engineers, the 1.6mil sell cost must go to Painite, even if just for it's rarity... I'd prob make it 3mil a tonne. So basically... is this working "as intended"? because if so .... give us a break Fdev. o7

I was in HR 5008 yesterday and found a couple of Panite hotspots. I don't even bother to look for pristine rings anymore, btw, I find hotspots more interesting.

Thanks for that.
I'm pulsing anything that lights up for it , everything I've sent out a prospector to that wasn't lit has nothing.
Are their any identifying Clues to Painite roids ? been so long since I did it the first time .o7

Sit in a Painite hot spot, ideally a pristine reserve, and ping your scanner for anything bright yellow and "average" in size.

Prospect it, and it'll likely be a crackable rock, and hopefully a Painite one.

I think Delkar has pristine reserves.

I've seen lots of Painite rocks over the last few days. Rings with painite hotspots, but also the usual "x% Painite" asteroids for classic mining. Mined more than enough for the engineer unlock on my new CMDR account within half an hour.

Iirc GCRV 1568 AB1 has Painite hotspots within its pristine rings.

I just did the unlock for Selene a couple days ago.

I found my Panite in Salikians system. The rings around planet Salikians 1 a has a good amount of Panite. I literally found the 10 tons I needed on the first rock I prospected.

Hope it helps.

go to EDDB >> Bodies
https://eddb.io/body

Set:
System Reserves: Pristine
Ring Type: Metalic (Ive heard that also Metal Rich are OK)
Reference System: Where u are or your homebase
Click Find bodies and go to the one from list.

I helped 3 friends of mine last week, diggin this out with my Phyton Gold Rush Ship :)
It took me 90min to find enough Painite to refine more then 30pcs

ps. Ive bookmark for Painite Hot Spot, Invite me as a friend in game and I'll help u. Nick is same as on this forum "mant3z"

Painite thats so mid 2018 get a grip!

it reminds me how hard this game is for new players. especially ones who want to discover everything "in game" without external tools. Advice like " go to material trader....go to interstellar factors..etc". these things can only be filtered in the galaxy map AFTER you have discovered them in the first place. Very hard game to get into for new players I think.

Maybe, but nothing that a quick google can't fix. Lot of games have wicky's nowadays, and I tend to visit them at an increasing rate (even for Borderlands(2), and thats one of the dumbest (and funniest) shooters ever made :D ).

Sorry off topic.
This though. This is what keeps me playing this game. The fact that things are difficult to learn about and master is a large part of what makes this game great.

Very true for we that have fallen deep into the "Immersion! (Yamiks voice)" depths of the game. Very hard to encourage a new player if he spends the first 5 hours trying to work out where everything is.

Used to keep my T10 in Wargis and mine Painite.

Wargis 13 (IIRC) rings have more Painite hotspots than you can shake a stick at.
Gehry Port has all the mining toys too.

Updated my T10 there, with all the new toys, went out and immediately scored 120t of Painite, transferred it into my Python, flew to Jardonerre and flogged it for Cr750k a pop.

Not in icy rings, last time I checked (though I can't be 100% certain as I didn't sample every single asteroid in a ring)

There is painite EVERYWHERE!

Really though, now with core mining you no longer have to go to Pristine Metallic rings to find painite. There are hotspots all over the bubble in Metallic and Metal Rich rings, regardless of Reserve type.

It is possible that for hotspots, reserve type doesn't matter, as I mined LTDs in a low reserve system and came out with 128 in about an hour. Same rate as I got in a Pristine system.

What about those of us still mining the "old fashioned" way?

Hotspots have higher yield concentrations, just like RESs. Go mine a hotspot and verify?

And just because you are mining a hotspot doesn't mean that there aren't laser mineable rocks there.

My suggestion is go find a metallic ring, say in a Major reserve, and DSS it for Painite hotspots. Then mine in a hotspot there, old-school. Tell me what you come up with with regards to yield.

P.S. Under the right conditions, painite goes for up to at least 400k/T now.
