No more reveals before launch

Its confirmed that there will be no more reveals before launch. Which seems odd since there are over 20 animals left to reveal with only 2 weeks left.

Where did you get the 20 animals to go? I think we are already over 50 now and they said 50+

The danger with data mining is that it 'reveals' stuff that they may have been working on but decided to remove because it didn't work as they wanted or they changed the model to a different species, decided it would fit better with future DLC etc. Plus some of those data mines are just statues or pics in game and they have clearly stated that doesn't mean they'll be in the base game (or ever introduced). Some of the data mines are almost certainly legit but don't count on any of them.

Even if some of the datamined animals arnt in. There's still plenty of inferred animals that are almost certainly in.

Animals aren't certain yes, but biomes 100% are and for 3 biomes there aren't shown even glimpse of it. Taiga, Tundra and Desert and I can't wait to see them. Tropical looks stunning.

Not sure why this would be odd? They want to leave some for surprises, only 2 weeks left so we all need to practice some patience :P
I would have expected only 5 or so animals to be kept secret, not over 20. And I thought they would try and build.more hype right before launch.

I think what she means is that there will be no more animal reveals before the launch. I have no worries about that and I look forward to discovering other animals on the 5th.
However, I think we will have some revelations during these few remaining days (transport rides, biomes or themes).
So I'm only one thing to say: let's be patient, there's not much more to wait for!
But I think Bo (or another CM) could clearly answer this question to tell us if we can wait for one or two revelations (except animals) before the launch. 😊

Honestly, I really like how they aren't revealing it all before release. One example, which I believe LoneBlind brought up, is how pokemon Sword and Shield seems to be doing the same thing. With that game, they heard the complaints people had with sun and moon's trailers revealing too much, so they toned it down for this release of the game, to keep more of the new pokemon hidden. We don't have much time left until either games come out, and I'm hyped to explore both on my own honestly!

I'd love to see them discuss how animal behaviors are coming along since they turned a lot of that off for the beta and made it seem like it's something they'll be working on right up to release. I can wait for animal reveals until the game launches but I'd really like to hear more about functionality. Maybe if they've made the much requested changes to amount of plant cover for some species.

I don't really get how there'd be surprises when you can see every animal in the game as soon as opening the Zoopedia (which is actually strongly recommended as it shows you their social groups, location, biome(s), enrichment species, and your research progress on that animal). It's basically delaying the inevitable.

Maybe cause you shouldn't be 100% sure untill you see that in the game :)

Also maybe there is some animal in the game which didn't mentioned in those data minings? Someone like dik-diks?

True. I think it would have been better to gradually reveal animals before launch instead of having them revealed in your face all at once.

I think it is a good idea to have limited knowledge of all animals we are going to see in the game, I mean would you rather your Christmas gifts be a pleasant surprise or to know exactly what your getting but be unable to open them till a certain date? XD

How wouldn't this count as a surprise? I still find it exciting to discover whats in the game for myself and I think that's generally what Frontier is aiming for. Like Cile mentioned Christmas analogy above, nobody spends all day slowly opening a single gift one by one. They open them all at once in the morning. Doesn't make it any less fun or exciting. I mean you don't have to find it exciting personally but that's the logic.

Most important about game launch is that it happens on the 5th. Else they will get he from shareholders who would prefer a release of a 80% rather than a 100% game (be that right or wrong that's the way it is) and then after that they will look at if they have met their promises

As players we would live with a delay to get a 100% Game but we also look at it they have kept their promises

So for the share holders it is important to meet the date and promises for us its the promises. Easy way to meet all of these is to keep your promises light only reveal in game when at 100% That way if you have to remove them you still meet your target and also keep promises.

Frontier has been caught out here before they promised 50 ships in Elite and couldn't make it for games launch so they ditched the extra ships - kept the market happy game was released on time - alienated players as " we were promised 50 ships" if they hadn't made that promise the market and players would have been happy.

If you promise 75 animals on launch you have to produce 75 animals. if you promise a wide range on release 73 is good enough. To some players only having 73 animals instead of 75 would be seen as failure

Planet zoo - keep all promises light except the launch date - that's the only one I want

The thing is when they reveal things all at once the excitement doesn't last long. Where's if they revealed things day by day there would always be hype.
