No more reveals before launch

All I have said I stand by but- I would expect a release video for steam to "advertise" it imminent availability take probably just before Beta or close to Beta starting. Would be good marketing to push it to the "top of steam lists" by making a change

The thing is when they reveal things all at once the excitement doesn't last long. Where's if they revealed things day by day there would always be hype.

I remember back when pokemon sun and moon came out, Gamefreak revealed nearly every new pokemon in the game. By the time the game released, it hindered my enjoyment of the game, as I knew everything, so I knew what I wanted to catch from what I didn't. Oppose that to going in blind, or with the roster of a game not revealed, there's still surprises for people to explore, and sometimes, seeing something you didn't know that was in the game in the first place might make you like it more.

Well, keeping the pokemons in secret till launch would make sense in this case, because people still would not discover it at once when launched. If I am not mistaken, you have to travel in pokemon and it is random if you find some new creatures right? But in planet zoo, you will know all animals the moment you open zoopedia.

I dont know, does not make much sense to me to keep it secret. Not in this case, but it is less then two weeks now, so I guess we can survive that. :)

To be honest, I'd rather have more secrets in planet zoo, since Jurassic World Evolution had too much content revealed, making it to where I never wanted to use certain dinosaurs that I probably would have, if I went into the game blind.

If some people want to know before they buy but don't want to buy until they know, it would make sense that those people might want to have more reveals, but its okay, they can probably find out everything they need to know the day the game is released, because i'm sure youtube will blowup with planet zoo content. XD
I personally love the element of surprise/suspense build up, i am hyped to know what we will get, I will definitely open the zoopedia and see if we get to know all the animals, then plan out what i want and work towards them. Going to be exciting to open it and see all the things I did not know about imo.
If i already know whats there, then there would be no real point for that initial thrill of 'lets get in asap and check :OOOO'

Hmmm, I am feeling the dullness of waiting with no new tidbits being shared, but I love finding them upon playing the game. What might be a compromise is if some shots were shared of the progression of something: sketches to rough design to finalized. Even on the things we know about. Or even a "blooper" picture - a "tried this and it didn't work". But that is me dreaming.

Personally I feel that the presented Beta was revealing enough.
People can look up Youtube vids, if they want to know about the game.

It's a lot more than you get with most games.

I agree with Cile on the surprise/suspense part.
But 1 or 2 animal reveals wouldn't hurt either :D

Well with only 2 weeks till launch I don't think they're especially worried about keeping that ball rolling in that specific way. There's been a ton of hype on social media because they sent a lot of youtubers to San Diego zoo and they've all been releasing their videos about it around this time. They've also continued to talk about other features, like the recent Themes dev log. I just don't think knowing the entire animal roster is particularly important and leaves some fun surprise for launch. I personally don't want to know every feature of the game before it comes out since I emjoy the surprise.

Not to mention, hype is a dangerous thing. I'd rather have the surprise, and lower expectations for the game, and it be good, than hyped with higher expectations, and have the game be bad. Jurassic World Evolution was hyped up, and once people got their hands on actual gameplay, they basically had a meltdown due to it not being the way they hyped themselves up as it being. I remember a youtuber who bashed Jurassic World Evolution, since it didn't have everything he hyped it up as, and called out frontier for "lying" when they never promised things like dinosaur breeding or piece by piece building.

Lol people imagine features that were never announced? oOo.

Anyways, theres no need to bully frontier for reveals. They are still marketing towards people who don't follow the game daily or dont know about the game at all.
We have less than 12 days left, can afford to be patient.

Where did you get the 20 animals to go? I think we are already over 50 now and they said 50+
Besides datamining, if we go by actual numbers, we still have at least 12 left to confirm as we are technically only at 38 confirmed animals. Exhibit animals don't count towards the 50+ animals as Bo has stated in the past. Using data mining though we are well over 20 more needing to be confirmed.

Actually, Bo said that she couldn't answer the exhibit animal question. Its currently unknown if exhibit animals count towards the 50+ count.

Hello! I believe I have been summoned ;)
Indeed we are taking it slow with animal reveals ahead of launch, because in a few days we're actually launching a game - so that's where our focus is at. My tweet was quite carefully worded in that it does not rule out any other fun things or other information that we might have planned for you in the next few days - or so I thought!
Of course we have got some exciting things planned, but as stated before, we are not revealing the full animal roster ahead of launch because we want to keep some surprises, or not spoil some parts of the story of Career Mode.

On a personal note (taking off my CM hat for a second), I'm also not sure why some here are so proudly talking about data-mining, it's not a very dev-friendly practice and could potentially ruin the fun for other players; so please respect each other and keep that to your own threads.

That's something to hear, Bo.

I do hope that some people here would quit staring at the boiling kettle and start preparing your bathroom for that nice warm bath. It'll be worth it.

(I personally don't mind spoilers, tho)
