No More Wolf Fesh?

Just trading Rares, you know, I land on Saunder's and Wolf fesh is not even listed as a commodity.

Has the last patch removed it?

I just noticed this too. I logged out in the station and it was listed. I logged back in a few hours later (had to go see Jurassic World!) and it isn't even listed in the Commodities Market.
What's up with that??

Were you gone during the time the 1.31 patch was pushed? Then it looks like wolf fesh might have been another victim of FD's penchant for unannounced/unexplained game-changes in updates.

Agreed, no more Wolf Fesh at Wolf 1301.

I've also noticed that stations I'd visited before that stocked narcotics now no longer stock them.

e.g. Uszaa (Guest...); Orrere (Sharon Lee...); Lave (Warinus...) - to name but a very few.

I don't know and I don'y have the time to check (Sunday lunch is nearly ready) but could the disappearance of certain items from certain markets be down to the policies of the controlling faction?

^ This. See Borasetani Pathogenetics for another example of the controlling faction banning their stations' rare good.

Has there been a recent Civil War? The Minor Faction controlling the Station with the Rare on might have changed to one which bans narcotics.

If you want it back you will need to get the Station to change ownership again.

Have a look at what happened in Gilya: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=147280

A new Rare Weapon was Unlocked by bringing the Gilya Law Party into power there.

looks like the controlling faction bans narcotics, don't know if the faction has changed but there is a civil war currently on between controlling faction and an anarchy faction. The controlling faction could have won the war last night and the war is still up for a few hours??
we could go and back the anarchy faction this should 'unlock' wolf fesh again

Yes. Saunders Dive in Wolf 1301 is no longer controlled by an Anarchy faction, so the Wolf Fesh is now illegal there.

It seems a general trend that Anarchy systems tend to get taken over by other factions. In the Lave area it's already happened to Orrere, Uszaa, Quator and Riedquat.

Other rares systems, Utgaroar and Tarach Tor seem to be about to change.

Ok, that's a very unwelcome side-effect of PP for me then!

Hey-ho... it's just a game...

While unfortunate from a trading POV it's fascinating. I think this is one of the few times that a change in faction/political system actually had any effect worth mentioning.
Looks like we're getting there with the 'dynamic' part of the universe...

Couldn't agree more - 1.3 had already made space feel much more 'alive' for me, and this makes it feel that way even more.

It's just a personal shame that it's ruined a pretty profitable trade/smugge route(s) I had sorted out... ...oh well... back to rares...

:D

EDIT: What this does suggest is that there perhaps should be the option to buy illegal goods from the black market, as well as sell to it.

If, I repeat, if this is down to faction policies then I shall be more smug that a huge smug thing. I said weeks ago that players may ignore PowerPlay but it will affect them nonetheless. The question then becomes whether in game players decide to be fatalistic sheep/victim (it has done this, they have done the other) or whether they decide to do something about the unwanted effects.

This isn't a result of Powerplay. It's been happening since before version 1.3. There seems a bias against Anarchy control. Someone posted an explanation once, something to do with bounties I think.

When a change of control happens, the INFO tab in Galaxy map still shows the original faction in control, even when the change occurred long ago. The System map shows the correct current factions. For example the Galaxy map still shows Alliance for Leesti, and Anarchy for Uszaa and Orrere.

They need to slow down on taking down Anarchy systems. :(

tarach tor is currently controlled by a dictatorship but originally anarchy, dictatorship is doing very bad looks like feds will take over at some point which will ban tarach tor spice
Utgaroar is not so bad still controlled by anarchy but has an empire faction expanding into it, don't think it will make a difference to availability of rare as it shouldn't be illegal
