No no no FD. You got it all wrong!!! Its the federal clipper!!

So i just got to thinking. The empire is clearly archaic with its slavery and British empire titles. I imagine the place to be more like the bladerunner universe. However the ships (clipper) are quite luxurious and smartly turned out.

The federals on the other hand who are corporate and more modern freedom and money related have the dropship which is more bladerunner style.

I'm not asking for it to be changed but does anyone else think they got the ship design back to front or you think they just designed then without thinking of back story.

Or just me that thinks of the government this way and I'm wrong.

What do you think they are both like. ?

that implies that there's some sort of odd correlation between ED and 'bladerunner(?)

and since there isn't, it makes perfect sense, as they're the ones that make up the lore.

On the contrary, the Feds design their ships with a utilitarian mindset, being more concerned with effectiveness than aesthetics (stats of the dropship notwithstanding). The Imperials are more status driven, and use more ostentatious ship designs to further impress upon their impoverished, opressed citizenship how far beneath the aristocracy they really are.

Got your point, but for me it's OK now. Federals are corporate, industrial, bladerunner as you nicely put it. The empire is about old values, tradition and elegance. Hence the beautiful lines and elegant enterier is with the empire.

Yeah i think i just imagine it wrong as you never get to see the people or cities. Now you guys say it like that it seems to make much more sense i guess!!

Hehe....

Initially, I thought all Empire Stations would look like this :

But turned out I was wrong.
Not important - but IMHO that Station design type would have nicely fit the overall Design of i.e. the Clipper ;)

I think that Empire might be old fashioned in certain traditions but, as most Empires, exhuberant, luxurious and indulgent. Make no mistake about it!

Whereas Imperial Clipper hints the presence of "His Royal Highness is in Da House Biatches" the Federal Dropship is more "This is the regular blue collar Joe delivering goods for the profit of the corporation" sort to speak.

One is an Embassador of sorts; the other, just a trucker in the supply chain of the Corporation.

At least thats how I see it. Lol.

Federation are corporate, therefore profit drive. They put their tenders out for the cheapest option that gets the job done. Imperial on the other hand swan into the shipyard saying I want this, this and this... oh and in blue. Then they and their entourage swan out again and such crass things as cost aren't even discussed.

The clipper belongs to the empire because it is built for looks more than functionality. The federation with its democratic republic would be more competition cutting down on extravagant design. The Empire with its slave trades and black market economies and more single powerful leaderships would be less to share design more apt to take things from the federation. Back in the old days millions of slaves built pyramids over dead powerful leaders so they could take their treasures with them and not be disturbed. People today can not fathom the idea of people going to all the trouble of building a pyramid for one special person of power so it is rumored aliens built the pyramids. Democracies have more of a functional past due to the need for everyone to share in what was built.
