No offline mode ok, but where is the multiplayer part ?

I bought the game some weeks ago (before the beta 2 in facts).

I was just came here to take a look about the ED progression.
I mainly stopped the game because there was nothing to do with my friend.
We bought this game together to play it together.

So I just installed the latest version (3.9 I think), a lot of improvment seems to have been made. And I will give this game a new shot for sure.
I also read about the no offline discussion. Personaly I don't care since I buyed an online game.

The thing is, after testing a little more the latest version, what have been improved on the multiplayer part ??

There is still nothing to do with my friend :(
No coop mission, nothing at all... Even, it is near from impossible to follow him or him to follow me.
It is hard to find him somewhere on the galaxy map and we are spending time on TS to try to explain where we are.

I already posted this kind of post a few weeks ago and I got answers like :
Wait for the release it will come etc...

So, we are now, really close from the release and I'm afraid that I've buyed a solo game...
Where is the interaction with each others ?? How to find them How to play with them ?

Can I "TP" near someone or use some extra "jumps" to reach the same system then my friend at the other end of the galaxy ?

On the main page of this website it is clearly explain that we can play in group :
"Elite: Dangerous lets you team up in multiplayer, with friends or fly solo as you blaze your own trail through this epic galaxy."

And personnaly I don't know how ... So can someone explain me the multiplayer mechanics in this game ?

I can only say that your concerns at the lack of multiplayer mechanics are correct and more and more posts are popping up demanding these mechanics . FD have no choice but to get these features in as quickly as possible either on release or very shortly after . Dont do it and we might as well play the X series .
 
For 3.9 your best bet is to create a group with your friend and then start the game in that group. The system will then try to put you together if you fly to the same place. This assumes that you have a good connection between you and your friend.

This will work for flying to any permanent locations like stations, nav points, conflict zones, extraction sites, etc but I have not seen it work for USS (Unidentified Signal Sources) or interdictions. The problem is this will be you and your friend vs NPC so basically a PVE Co-op.

There is no mechinism in game to group up in open play though it is hoped this is coming. There are no group missions, again this is hoped to be coming.
 
Well yes true enough noodle , I shall rephrase it then. If they dont then a lot of the player base will lose interest after a couple months .

Now, you can give them some canister without they're marking stolen
Personnaly, we havan't any problems for regrouping, in any warzone, or stations, or beacon...
About combat missions, just take the same warzone mission and lets figth ;)

With a wave scaner, you can join them into deep space

Lol i don't think and i d'ont want any magic TP, If u're playing in group, manage it in order to stay a some YL each others...

I think FD is actualy working hard on the group management, you're rigth it s a core feature, and i can't wait for seeing it in game

Wow that's er harsh i think is the right word, also wrong x series was never fun elite is.

Is it harsh to say a multiplayer game meeds multiplayer functions? I couldnt think of another offline single player game offhand lol.

I am only being direct because I love this game . I played Elite in the 1980's so I am no noob to the game. I have been playing online games for over 20 years now with mates . Most of them I still play with online and most are playing/ testing ED. Times move on and things change for the better sometimes . Mutiplayer gameing is one of the for better things. That needs functions that allow us to work and play together.

I am being "Harsh" because it is important and all of our group often comment on the lack of "being able to co op together". It is not much to ask for an answer as to when these features will be implemented into this multiplayer game. Indeed why they have not been already.

I agree with some of what you say, the grouping needs to be improved (speaking from 3.5, not tried 3.9)

I DISAGREE with your forced co-op missions however. My understandign is we have been promised there will be NO unique content for groups of players and that all content will be available for all players. I would be very very dissapointed if all of a sudden special content for groups start coming in, as it is essentially guild only content then,.

design missons for more than 1 vessel, certainly, but it is vital imo that these missions are available for singletons as well, (but with AI partners of course)

That's the point, i personally love this game a lot, BUT, they need to improve A LOT the muliplayers capabilities to find each others and KEEP THEM TOGETHER

sorry to wrote in capital letters, but for me it is the top priority that FD need to have, at least that is what i think, i could be wrong...

Can't explain them yet. While yes this is 3.9 it isn't Gamma yet or release. I can say is that I saw a MASSIVE increase in player presence when I accessed last night. This is the basis of multiplayer but you are right that multiplayer content other than ad-hoc PvP really isn't in there yet.

I get the feeling they might add this in updates after the actual release but I'm hopeful that we might start to see the content as of the 22nd or the 16th. The platform seems to be getting there (which is what they said the 3.9 release would be). Lets see if they can layer on some content.

If we read the DDA there will be grouped slave mode, where 1 player will be a salve to others and when they come out of SC they pull in the others.

But for now the Last Hit = kill reward has to be changed to % Damage = % Bounty Reward in groups too make it worth while.

I do agree . We have put a man on the moon , discovered the makeup of the human gene so I am sure you can do scaleable missions depending on how many in a group ? Even EVE managed that.

Personally I’ve been waiting for online Multi-play in Elite for thirty years since I played the original I’m like the opposite to those few who wanted offline solo play. I can think of nothing worse. I want a rich Human real player environment and would love nothing else coming out a Star Port seeing ten or fifteen real players mixed with Ai. How you would police it I don’t know all the same as some players are just prats hell bent being kiddies spoiling games.

But Multiplayer is massive for me and if they don’t grasp that and embrace it then it’s a lost opportunity. When people say “see you out in space” I really want that to be the reality.

At the moment the game doesn't fit into my view of what an MMO is. It's clearly multiplayer in that there are multiple players, you can have private groups (which is not the same concept as grouping up in space) and you can interact with players. But the wing/alliance mechanics are sorely needed, and I hope that they're part of the set of surprises that are planned for launch. If not, I hope they come very soon after launch -- with a clear roadmap for inclusion -- so that those who are interested in the social aspect of the game don't get disenfranchised with it.
 
I would like to see a team system that allows the players to see the location of each teammate and if distance is permitted they could jump to their location (such as an interdiction that they need immediate assistant with). I would also want your teammates to be a different color on the radar so you can't mistaken them. Also to be able to mass warp as a team or set a team destination that each person can warp to. But obviously these are just things I want.. And the odds of some of them coming true or even being heard are next to none. Still crossing my fingers!

A) They know this is important to people;

B) They've stated more improvements are coming with respect to this;

C) While anyone / everyone is entirely within their rights to raise / flag this issue, let's also be mindful that right at this second they're in gamma mode, and in a binary sense, any adjustments to this either are, or are not already in that build. If they are not, they won't be able to focus attention on it until release, at which point it likely will be a priority to get it into the game.

At the moment you can still do most everything together with friends, they just haven't specifically implemented features to facilitate that, or to make it more interesting / scalable to your group.
