No one buys Balloons, Coffee or Momentos

Every time I put down any of these shops the vendors quit because there is no business at them. They are all in populated areas but no guest buys anything from these 3 shops. Does anyone else have this problem?

I've noticed a distinct lack of interest in coffee shops. I've wondered if this may be related to the biome or not (I was in a sandbox deciduous park). Momentos are pretty hard to sell as well but I've noticed they sell better if the stand is close to a ride exit.

I have a momentos at the exit to one of my coasters and no one buys anything from it.. I will try putting it on a flat ride next.. I have never seen a balloon in my park either and I have 4 ballon stalls scattered through my park.

I've seen my coffee shop become popular, just not a balloon, momento, or hat shop. They're all right in the main entrance area of my park too, people walk past it to get food that's in the area. I have a coffee shop in a popular area of my park near ride exits and entrances and the line is usually pretty stacked, so I think it could just be the souvenir shops.

Spicy chicken too. These shop cannot get good sales. Coffee might be popular if there's no drink nearby, but not the other shops.

Sales aren't out of this world, but hat shops seem to do okay in busy areas (1 Coaster and 2 flat rides nearby.)

I'll try balloons in a while... It seems as if guests lose their balloons as soon as they buy food and drinks, so don't judge balloon sales from whether you see balloons in your park, check the actual shop's profits...

In my experience so far nothing matters, they will always fail to produce enough sales, and make the seller resign. Even if my park has 4000 guests and the shops are set between the 2 or 3 most visited coasters. Be it ballons, mementos, soicy chicken, etc.

The only one that I manage to make it work is the street coffee.

That's with the deciduous biome in easy challenge.

I think it's definitely a reflection that the guests have food and drink preferences. I placed a Chief Beef and Tikichicki next door to each other. The Chief Beef always has a full queue but the Tikichicki doesn't do anywhere near as well.

Did the same with drinks. Cosmic Cow vs Street Fox - Cosmic Cow always comes out on top.

It's good that the guests have preferences but the trouble is they're too predictable. One type of shop always does better. If you're going for profit you always place Chief Beef and Cosmic Cow as they're the most popular brands. No-one will complain about the lack of variety. The rest of the brands just become cosmetic.

It would be better if the brand preferences were more randomised and you got feedback from the guests about it.

'I wish there were more choice"

"I don't like Chief Beef - is there something else available?"

As far as hats/souvenirs/balloons go I've had a mix of varying and very predictable results.

Predictable: Balloons never sell. Doesn't matter where I place the shop no-one buys them and the vendor quits out of boredom. Same goes for JustAMomento. You'd have thought that a prime location for a souvenir shop would be near the exit to the most popular rollercoaster in the park but sadly not.

Varying: Hats are the only thing I can get to sell, but the results are varied and difficult to predict. Sometimes they sell really well and at other times they do just as badly as balloons.

Seems that there really is something odd in these, Coffee, and souvenirs sells really poorly no matter what you do. I got the hat business blooming at the start, but it went down really fast and now no-one is buying. Coffee, balloons and mementos have never sold good. One coffee shop stays open, but most places the employees just leave all the time because no work.

I've notice that too, it depends of a lots of things, If the guests just arrived, they'll not spend time to buy souvenirs and stuff, even foods and drinks are forgotten.
They'll just go right to their favourite ride and after that maybe reconsider to go to toilet or do some shopping. Vendors quit only if I open the stores too soon, I have to wait until The UI tells me that peoples are starving or thirsty.
As for balloons and Souvenirs....i have to say it is a nightmare. I really don't know how to make guests buy them, It is really random. I hope for a fix to that, beacause all of my staff peoples working in souvenir shops and balloon stores just quit. Nobody like theme. [knockout] And I don't know why.

This has been logged multiple times, yes. I also have this issue, to the point where I won't even get a single sale.

It's being investigated.

Yep agreed I opened my new balloon shop had a bit of interest but quickly fell into loss and I had to axe the shop... Same sort of problem with hats I've had to open and close various hat shops for same reason and for some reason no one likes coffee even though I've dropped prices and all sorts

I usually put a drinks stand by a thrill ride since guests get very thirsty from vomiting and I gotten good business from it

For gift shops I usually put one in a big traffic area

Guest Preference Experiment

Gulpee Slushie / Energy over Street Fox Coffee

Monsieur Fries over Tikichiki

Chief Beef over Cosmic Cow ( or equal )

Looney Balloons over Just A Momento

Nobody really wants Mexelente

Everyone always buy hats from Hats Fantastic

Seems like guests go after the more popular brands and some new food from what I experimented besides pricing and settings for extras

Hopefully it will branch out more when more guest mechanics get implemented besides more stall types

I've also noticed that some shops are more popular than others. Chief Beef and Cosmic Cow in particular. I haven't tested it fully, but it seems to me that Street Fox Coffee becomes more popular when I assign a Foxy Mascotte to the area where the shop is located (for a short while anyway), and Loony Balloons becomes more popular as I build a big building around the shop, but although it is more popular than a Loony Balloons shop without a building by a wide margin, it still isn't enough to keep the shop employee happy.

Same issue also but none of my staff will quit if I give them high enough pay in Sandbox regardless if they are busy or not [big grin]

I'm currently running an experiment, where the hats, balloons & gift shops are in building close to the park entrance... Will run the game for awhile to see if placement was the issue...Before had them by my water rides which are popular with the guests, but no one shopped there... I put drink shops by the water rides & those did better.... I guess being around all that water makes guest thirsty, go fig...
