CQC No-one on the planet Earth is playing CQC right now? That can't be right?!

I enjoyed it for a couple of weeks - seemingly like most of the rest of the community - before finding it rather repetitive.

I think I got to about a 9 or 10:1 kill ration, realised I was just doing the same tactics in the same places, and it just got to "been there done that"...

Well, these are exactly my thoughts when I play the main game. Grindfest. At least in CQC the subject of the grind is able to shoot back :D Still I do not spam all available platforms that it should be abandoned, just because I don't like it.

So I rest my case ;) Had CQC's ethos and development effort instead been ploughed into the core game, you'd potentially have the best of both worlds.

eg: You could be signing up to a Powerplay task with a wing of your friends, to clear out all enemy at a nav beacon in an asteroid field (maybe only flying Vipers?), knowing a wing of CMDRs from the opposing Power are coming in with the same mission goal. And the results, would affect your Powers outcomes...

That doesn't sound interesting to me at all. Interesting how we are all different isn't it.

By the way, I would love for you to come back for a while and see if things have improved. I bet you wouldn't keep that 9:1 kill ratio though ☺

So you wouldn't fancy missions to escort a convoy of refugees under attack? And you couldn't envisage scenario stacking in Powerplay where a station is under full blockade with one Power trying to enforce the blockade and another to break it. And you wouldn't fancy undertaking any of the PvP tasks based with some friends on the pivotal battle to enforce the blockade, or instead escort transports in to deliver supplies or evacuate civilians out?

Personally I'd like to have maybe have seen (instead of CQC) fighters employed into the core game so you could have undertaken tasks on/from a station/platform/capital ship. eg: Patrolling or combat scenarios facing other groups of fighters. Defending locations/ships. Might have been nice as military rank time missions too.

Anyhoo...

I've just checked... 10:1...

And I suspect you are very very right. I suspect it would turn into 1:10 at alarming rate... Assuming I could find matches! ;)

I'll do a Rosberg and retire where I am!

It is true, the game play you describe leaves me cold. I have no interest in any of that. Crazy flying around a maze getting blown to bits is more interesting to me.

Wow! I recall back in Alpha/Beta when (much to the better outcome) there was just one conflict zone in the entire game (at Eranin). I recall going there looking for PvP - this is when PvP was about fighting other CMDRs interested in a fight, and not just interdicting any/all CMDRs you can find out of pure boredom/frustration - and having some great fights. I recall being heavily damaged once in my Viper (why fly a Viper anymore?) and zooming out of the CZ...

There on my radar half a dozen empty squares appeared. It was half a dozen CMDRs in vipers forming up in to a formation before zooming back into the battle... I've never seen anything like that in Elite since in over two years... An organised assault... And the game offers in reality no mechanics to even help orchestrate it :(

CQC has been broken since the start and has seen little attention in over a year. Play Rocket League instead. It's a pity, because it could be good.

CQC is broken on so many fronts that only die hard fan boys sit waiting at the static waiting screen for hours on end. People have posted bare essential solutions to the tried and tested "Arena" PvP formula, but FD have chosen to ignore all.

Avoid at all cost. Play the main game instead. FD got that right at least. ;)

Well, whilst I wait for a game I usually read the forums... but yea, sometimes it takes more time to connect than I can find interesting topics.
