No rebuy, zero insurance day... Worth a try?

In beta, there's a lot more pvp actually happening as no one cares about the rebuy.
Even for people that don't normally enjoy pvp, it's more fun when there's no actual risk to your cash.

So, I was thinking, how about planned "no rebuy" days? Maybe during the first day of a community goal, or if you want to role play it, say it's to encourage pilots to test their combat skills ahead of thargoid attacks.

Just a thought, I'm sure I've missed loads of reasons why it's a bad idea, but it might encourage people to actually have a go at pvp, or at least feel comfortable to wander about in open more than usual.

It would probably end up like the purge though lol, but that would be fun too.

Interesting proposal, but I don't think it's enough.

I suspect that for a lot of players (me included) credits is not an issue. I have enough.
I care more about my progress and the effort I might stand to loose.
Since that is also lost in beta, it does not matter there, just like credits.

I don't think that the care less attitude in beta is transferable to the main game.

PvP doesn't need to be artificially encouraged: it happens naturally when you want something and another player is in the way.

maybe some restricted system (where CQC could be implemented directly in the main game) could allow fighting without rebuy
(some sort of event/championship like a CG)

Maybe you want to tweak your title here. I initially assumed by "No rebuy" you meant "if you're ship is destroyed, there is no rebuy option". But you actually mean "100% Insurance coverage".

WRONG! Well i think so; i get my fun from the danger (Something very much missing). I liken it to playing Quake. When i played quake it was fun, when i played quake with godmode i was bored within 10 minutes.

Anyway, wouldn't bother me i just would not play on those days, the game already seriously seriously lacks risk danger and loss; they remove any more of it i might fall asleep.

Isn't this basically CQC though :D.

There's already a reduction in paid rebuy based on your killer's notoriety level. I can't find right now what the maximum is, but I believe it's pretty substantial at notoriety 10.

If that hasn't made a difference then I wouldn't expect a complete removal of it to make that much difference either.

On any small or medium ship the rebuy is less than *one easy mission* in that same ship, so is probably not the major consequence of losing the ship, either.

Most of the complaints I see from people about getting gunned down by live players, is that they've been gunned down by live players. Rebuy is usually a distant second compared to the huge burn some folks feel about being shot by another actual person, and the thought that said shooter probably enjoyed it.

On live, I have my CMDR do what my CMDR would do, and he's not prone to suicidal risks. He doesn't care about rebuys, he cares about risking his life to the ejection and recovery process.

I'm not playing a character in Beta, I'm beta testing. Thus I'm much more aggressive, with no concern for consequences.

I have twenty fold more hours played in live, but a hundred times the rebuys across the beta tests.

This too.

I never do Insurance, if my ship goes pop so does all the engineering and in a sidey I go. I fly better that way and run when I have to rather than slug it out to the end.

I'd give it a try, just to see how terrible I'd be at pvp. And too see how bad my PVE fitting would be.
