No Shipyards are in Maia. Lets change that.

I just traveled 300 ly in a sidewinder (haven't played in months) to find out there are no shipyards. so I'm stuck in a sidewinder indefinitely. I really don't want to travel back 300ly lol. how do we go about adding a shipyard to the system? or do we have to annoy the devs enough to get them to add them?

We had a chance to get them installed when the facility was built, the community didn't complete it. We have what we have, rather than improve a station that really is fine, I'd rather see us concentrate on getting other facilities even further out.

how do we go about getting other stations futher out when we have to travel 300ly back home to upgrade? nooone wants to travel that far just to upgrade. so nooone will come out that far, defeating the purpose of colonizing outside of the bubble. I mean why build stations no one will ever use?

There are a lot of things to do at a station other than buy other ships...

It looks like your nearest shipyard is at 64 Arietis /Weyn dock 176.92ly sadly.... bit of a jog..
Use https://eddb.io/station will help you fine what you need.
Good luck

yea I was the fool that decided to jump 300ly in a sidy without looking if maia had any shipyards, my fault lol. I was just surprised, and kinda disappointed as I was looking forward to setting camp at maia that's all.

yea but since there is no shipyard you have to wait until you grind up to the ship you want before you can travel to maia, and what if you get sick of the ship your in? eventually you would get tired of travelling back and forth and back and forth and back and forth 300ly.

I agree, that would get tiring and the ship delivery system coming eventually will help alleviate it a lot. Though really...300 Ly....not that bad in anything with 15+Ly jump range. I mean, that's only a few minutes in an Asp.

Lots of people already travel that far on a whim, given it takes a properly equipped long range ship 10-15 minutes to cover 300Ly.

What inspired you to make the trip in a Sidewinder? There was no guarantee of getting the ship you wanted even if the station had a shipyard...small population anarchies have really bad selections generally.

actually, now that I think about it that's not that far away, maybe 20 jumps at the most. and maia has a station with outfitting. I'm not totally     ed lol.

to be totally honest I wasn't thinking straight. I thought maybe I could start from scratch and not focus on the cr/h all the time and focus more on the faction game play. anyways even thought sidewinder is a good ship, its the worst ship in the game, so literally any ship would have been good.

I guess I can keep my original idea and just grind up creds/rep at maia and help out the factions (maybe overthrow the anarchy that's owning the system right now lol) and when I have enough creds just jump some 100 odd light years to get a new shiny ship. it would be refreshing not worry about grinding just so I can get a ship so I can grind better to get another ship to grind better lol.

anybody want to join me at maia?

EDIT: nvrmind. all the destinations in the missions are 300ly away, and if there is a mission that is in the local system, I can't do it because I can't get to it because I haven't discovered all the stations/planets and I have no scanner because I got rid of it to increase my jump range like a dum dorie. so ill just come back to maia when I have like a cobra or something.

TLDR: noobs can't start out in maia they have to play a little while. which is sad but I'm okay with it.

I would be looking at trading up to a cobra or asp with a decent jump range and better cargo capacity.. eddb says no outfitting at obsidian station but it may be out of date...

You should in theory still be able to fly to the planet the station is orbiting, and land at the planetary outpost there. I'm sure someone could guide you in if you ask nicely. The station on the planet has outfitting.

I feel your pain but pilots usually check their destination BEFORE going 300ly. Time to head back as the station won't get a shipyards and outfitting anytime soon.

isnt the maia 1b planteary outpost a thing soon ?

There's a plant side outpost with outfitting, and all the other goodies you'd expect.

I spend a bit of time going between Maia and Sothis and its one of the more interesting activities until they are able to fix the mission system.

Happy to catch up with any CMDR out there who isn't gunning for small ships. Send though a friend request and when I'm nearby drop me a text.

Yo OP, YEAH MAN... What's the deal? David should just jump on his big boss keyboard and put one in for us. Seriously, we put up with a lot from this game, and "quality of life" is what we need. OP is basically saying hey just get the devs to do this, and I can't disagree.
