No Xbox controller profile

Anyone else having this issue? I just bought a new xbox controller to play this (it's working fine, just tried it on another game), but odyssey doesn't see it or has it premapped??
Is anyone else playing fine with an xbox controller or did they have to map EVERYTHING? Can someone share a controller profile?
Pretty ridiculous, to be honest.

My xbox controller copy cannot be seen by Odyssey, at all. Worked out of the box in the alpha, can't get squat out of it in release. Don't have the time to dig too deep at the moment, supposed to be working.

yeah so same as me. worked fine in the alpha. no profile now. Anyone else out there that can help us?

I have the same problem. I lost also all my control settings for joystick and hotas,but the settings are still in the bindings folder. I sent a report.

All my bindings are gone - thanks to FD deciding to rework the menus, old binding backups no longer work and Xbox / Advanced Pad options are gone.

Over two hours of very, very painful binding for hotas, mouse, keyboard advanced pad gone, thanks so very much FD for ‘fixing’ something that wasn’t broken.

Really? Are you telling they released a game -- one that every single one of their official streams has their community people playing with an xbox controller -- without out of the box xbox controller mapping???

Yep, I’m stunned to see your the only other person that’s mentioned it, I can’t restore my old bindings as they don’t work, if I use a joystick preset - it’s not setup correctly and still uses the keyboard. It’s completely shot.

Why is there no Xbox - Advanced Pad preset as there was in Horizons / Odyssey Alpha.
I literally will be spending my first new hours with Odyssey doing binding again. Not happy.

I'm wondering if it has something to do with this?
The brand new xbox controller shows up in the old control panel as bluetooth LE XINPUT ?

Yeah, this seems more like a windows thing. If I connect it via cable, it shows up on windows as xbox controller and the game sees it and the profile works. I think it's a weird bluetooth thing. Great...

Installed the XBox wireless dongle, waited until it finished installing, pressed connect on both xbox (x) controller and the dongle, waited until they were linked, then started odysee (steam).
For "on foot" controls I selected "Joypad with keyboard and mouse" (ship and srv got the hotas 4 assigned) and I was able to move just nicely though the tutorial. Left stick for moving, right for camera/turning, d-pad for tools, menues with mouse.

Didn't work for me sadly, plus it always shows up as an xbox controller (and works in everything else)

Using an xbox controller is wonky right now. Weird issues like depressing buttons not activating actions like "jump" until after the pressure is released from the button. So when you press "A" you don't jump until after your thumb releases "A." I've never played this way in any game.

Had the same issue with my Xbox controller.
What helped:
open the steam client. of the 'steam' menu, choose settings. In the settings dialog select 'controller', then click on 'general controller settings'. A new window will open up, check 'xbox configuration support'.
when restarting elite odyssey you will find the different profiles when binding your keys.

Hope it will work for you as well!

My wired Xbox controller isn't seen by Elite Dangerous Odyssey at all. What I mean is that even if I try to manually bind individual commands onto Xbox controller buttons or axes, the game never registers those controller movements so I cannot complete the binding. The controller is seen in Windows and also works in Steam games (note that my copy of EDO is not a Steam game). I thought there might be a limit on the number of controllers, since I also have a full HOTAS and an EDTracker plugged in (for a total of five controllers when including the Xbox controller), but I tried unplugging the EDTracker to reduce the number back down to four (which I already know works) and it didn't help get the Xbox controller to be recognized.

Has anyone had the same problem and found a workaround? I really want to control my on foot time using that controller if at all possible, as it makes for smoother video capture ... K+M may be better for gameplay, but I intend to produce content with the game, and I can't bear the jerky videos produced when one looks around with a mouse.
